I'm going to be playing on an HDTV. I was thinking of getting component cables, a silicone cases for the wiimotes, and a charger. Does anybody have any recommendations for which brands, or bundles of accessories I should buy? Are there any other accessories I need to get? Thanks!

Rechargeable batteries rated 2500 or higher, I prefer Energizer

Don't fall for the docking station scam.

You don't need cases for the Wiimotes, it comes with the Wiimote Jackets, which themselves are pretty pointless. Don't get a charger, get rechargeable batteries and a battery charger, much better.

Definitely get the component cables and rechargeable batteries. There's nothing you really need to get other than those, since Wii Remotes come with protective jackets. I have some third party component cables, which looked a bit sketchy, but they work perfectly.

I think you shouldn't buy a charger , rechargebles bateries are a lot better, but you will need and wi-fi router to acess internet on wii, the wii balance board is pretty fun, and you should buy rock band or guitar hero;)

HD cables are a good buy. Jackets are pointless, even if Nintendo didn't provide you with free ones via mail. I use straight-up rechargeable batteries instead of a docking station. It's cheaper.

Don't waste you're money on a docking station (big waste of money for me) and covers for your Wiimotes. Put all that money into buying more Wiimotes. It stinks only having 1.

I admit I just got one for Christmas and know NOTHING.... What is a wii mote? I have not even taken mine out the box yet. I have played it once at a friends and loved it. My main question is (and most here say no) but should I buy a charger? what is a wii mote? and can you buy a regular controler? (like the playstation or xbox) controler to play games that would be easier to play with that style controler? or is everything the wii controler which seems hard to use on such games as call of duty, etc....

PS I know I am a noob to Wii... but I cant wait to play guitar hero 3.....

a wii mote is a wii remote ( the standard controller for the wii) . wii mote

super smash bros brawl and mario kart wii are compatible with the gamecube controller though.

and there is one wii mote packed in the wii box as well as a nunchuck

most wii games will only use wii mote, or wii mote and nunchuck.

do not buy a charger.

I think Energizer is the only brand to make the chargers and rechargable batteries. They've worked very well and last at least 4 hours on a single charge.

I recommend getting an extra set of batteries for every 2 wii-motes, that way you have a back up.

Thanks for the info, but I am confused. Someone reviewing the 4 station remote charger for the wii said that those charged wii remotes last up to 12 hours before they need to be recharged... is this true.. and if it is, how is that not better than rechargeable batteries??? thanks
