the 3ds was also my first handheld since the original gameboy.

the 3ds has enough gAmes to keep you Almost as busy as a console. you just have to be willing to put in the time.

As the title says just picked me up a new 3DS XL at target for $165.66, Luigis Mansion at Kmart for $22.13 a Mario Case at ToysRus for $3.43 and got a free digital game from Nintendo to boot! Chose Super Mario Land 3D.

I had been saving up for a few months $300 in total for either a Vita or 3DS and jumped on the 3DS mainly cause of price difference. So far Ive spent $190.xx so I have a little over a $100.00 to pick up some games and accessories. What are some good games and must have accessories? I'm a Call of Duty/Xbox360 and BF3/PC type of gamer this is my first handheld since the original Gameboy 20+ years ago.

Welcome to the party! The best part about your decision is that the DS has a HUGE library, have fun catching up on those games too!

For accessories, I always recommend screen protectors and a case for the system for any portable device. I usually get a hard crystal or silicon cover that snaps on the system like this: https://encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcRq7_R0BQHejK00MezJ1cpkfJd9SoOVaqHs5uxD97nkCJR5DWZw

Then if the covered system fits, I'll put it in another case (like your Mario one) as well. Sorry if that sounds confusing.

For games, Super Mario 3D Land is pretty good, so it's a good choice for the promotion. I already have it, so I'm going to get Starfox myself. Standard Pokemon games like Black and White 2 (the newest ones) are always great and addicting. I'm playing Fire Emblem Awakening right now and am liking it. I also got Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity, but it's not the best and I recommend getting a normal Pokemon game over it. I plan on getting Monster Hunter 3 soon. For FPS games like Call of Duty and Battlefield, there are not many on the 3DS. There aren't any good ones on Vita either though.

Good job getting the 3DS XL instead of the Vita by the way. I have both, and I like the 3DS more because of how many games are available for it. There is barely anything good on the Vita for the time being.

Hey man. Nice beginning for your collection. As you said you were a FPS gamer, but don't expect that kind of experience on the 3DS. It'll offer things like what you have already with Luigi's Mansion and SM3D Land. Other interesting games include Fire Emblem, Zelda OoT, Mario Kart 7, Kid Icarus, Pushmo, and Resident Evil Revelations.

As I said, I think this will be a nice complement to your FPS gaming experiences. The handheld is great for those alternate experiences.

Just bought one today myself. I've had Fire Emblem Awakening preordered for ages (PAL) and finally got around to buying the system for it seeing as the games released next week here. I'm just trying to find good quality screen protectors for it now. Is Hori still the go to brand? Anywhere recommended where I can purchase legit ones?

Bestbuy is having a B2G1 on all preowned games in case you're looking to pick up some more games. A lot of the good ones like Resident Evil revelations start at 25$.

I didn't know about that. Maybe I'll get Ocarina of Time, Resident Evil, and Paper Mario.

Funny story I traded in my Call of Duty BO2 for $30 store credit at Best Buy picked up new copies of Kingdom Hearts 3DS and Resident Evil Revelations for 19.99 each at Best Buy they priced matched Gamestop on both prices. I'm set for a while, time to enjoy my 3DS.
