I just started to remember how awesome the wii was back then

then i started looking at the current state of the wii and its just bad..

i know 2010 is going to be an awesome year but i feel nintendo has been very lazy and i completely agree with that ign article that says nintendo is becoming lazy

There's no denying that 09 was arubbish year for Nintendo. But i think your being a bit harsh. What about all the great games being released near the end of the year, and there were some good games released too, like Little Kings story for example.. And Wii Music is actually a prettygood game when you learn how it works.

What about Wii Sports Resort and NSMB? Nintendo has always brought only a trickle of first-party software, so that's nothing new at all.

Nintendo's not going to start telling publishers what they can and can't make. That's terrible business and could only hurt the industry. Bad developers aren't suddenly going to make good games because Nintendo told them to. It can't possibly work that way.

yeah i have to admit 09 wasnt the best for the wii. Hopefully things get better in 10'. Its obvious Mariokar64fan is in denial.

I guess if you limit yourself to only playing first party games then yah the Wii isn't doing too hot, but should be good again in 2010.

Now if you also play 3rd party games Wii has had such a great 09 that I think it's Wii's best year.

Nintendo has, for the very first time in 20 years, let me down with the wii.

I think a lot of us forget what it was like, 20+ years ago with the videogame industry.

Unless you had a serious degree in computer programming and spoke C++, forget about a career in videogame productions. It was a pipe dream for most of us.

Our peers would scoff at us when we said that we wanted to have anything to do with videogames, skateboards, comic booksor any other "toy"as a profession.

Technology has gone bananas over the past 15 years. We live in a different world now that allows a vast market to open, and with the constantly revolving doors we see more extreme levels of the good and the bad come and go.

And even 15-25 years ago, we had headache games come along each year, but nobody wants to remember them, so nobody talks about them. How about the Bible Adventure series for the NES? Or what about the Power Glove and Virtual Boy? When things get experemental, they tend to see more flaws before perfection is acheived.

I was slightly dissapointed with the number of good releases, but that's not to say we had none for the system this year and I'm always wishing for Nintendo to push the limits of their controller layout in tastefully creative format that isn't always silly. Metroid Prime 3 was a beautiful example of that.

Next year will be better. Well, hopefully. I think Metroid Other M and Super Mario Galaxy 2 will make up for this year's shortcomings. The problem with Nintendo is that they're games come out to few and far between.

Also, don't forget about Punch-Out. That was a great game. And Metroid Prime Trilogy.

And I say just get a 360 or PS3 to get your gaming fix and just enjoy the Wii. Great advice right?

2009 wasn't the best "Nintendo" year, but it was easily the best year the Wii has had.

Seriously...to say 2009 was a dissapointment is saying you were probably expecting too much from the beginning.

I have absolutely no problems with my wii.

I really don't understand why people say this year was an abomination. It wasn't the best year the year had, but it wasn't bad. I've had plenty of games to play all the time.

I'm disappointed with Nintendo's performance too... I'd really like them to create new IP's and show everyone what Wii can really do when its in the right hands. I know we've had little games like Swords & Soliders and You, Me and the Cubes but I really think they need to do more. Thankfully, this year has been pretty good for third parties (Klonoa, Madworld, Deadly Creatures, HOTD:OK, Dead Space: Extraction etc) so they've kept me busy.

1. The NPC! titles were meant to allow newbies at gaming who hadn't owned a GameCube to play some of the game last gen that could get possible sequels, so that if they decided to expand a series like Pikmin, which they are doing with number three, then the noobs (which are many) that own a Wii could have an opportunity to have played the first game in that respective series. Because really; what new gamer is gonna' go out and buy Pikmin 3 if they haven't had an opportunity to play the original Pikmin?

2. Wii Music wasn't rubbish; it was just too hard for everyone, so people started whining and started blaming the game itself for their musical shortcomings.

My thoughts exactly, I see the Wii as more an outlet for nostalgia and casual gaming with a hint of classic series revivals (AKA new Mario, Zelda... etc) than a next-gen console. If you're a gamer by hobby and can only own one console this gen it'd be a huge mistake (maybe the biggest you ever make) if you choose the Wii as the one and only console to own. Those who play games as a hobby this gen either own a 360/PS3 alone or own a Wii with one of the other two (excluding those who own all three, I think they're the minority for now).

I game as a hobby. Its not a major part of my life, although recently I have started to play more, and I am completely satisfied with my Wii.

I think he's mainly talking about first party efforts, and in that sense he's right. I love my Wii and I love a good Nintendo game on my Wii. But they have been very lazy after Brawl. It's been a long wait for Sin and Punishment 2, I'll tell you that. I'd say Punch-Out!! was probably the most significant game Nintendo published this year as it was the only game that even tried to show off with a decent presentation. New Super Mario Bros. Wii, Wii Sports Resorts, Wii Fit Plus and ExciteBots all look really dated in terms of graphics AND presentation. And I don't mean compared to Xbox 360 games or anything, but in terms with OTHER WII GAMES. Nintendo has a great line-up for 2010 with Galaxy 2, Metroid and Sin & Punishment 2, hopefully with Zelda as well. But I doubt they're even going to show much that's new for the year even after those games.

It's taking serious third-party effort like No More Heroes 2 and Tatsunoko VS. Capcom to make the Wii a viable option as a lot of third parties are really, genuinely stepping it up for the system these days. But Nintendo themselves do need to step it up a little bit in terms of giving more quality games per year and to not get so lazy with presentation and graphics. I know the Wii isn't the most powerful system out there, but Namco Bandai's remake of Klonoa looks so much better than New Super Mario Bros. Wii and that game is supposed to be the one that's the holiday anchor for the system.

I don't feel like defending Little King's Story after reading you argument. I realize that there's no point in trying to make you "see" what's so great about it because you're obviously a shallow gamer.

Play Cod: Modern Warfare (especially online) and come back and say that.
