Yes, but only if you're subjective. Both feature a single protagonist battling an alien race, a space age setting, a race of super intelligent creatures that came before, strange creatures that feed off of other lifeforms, and human allies. However, the Metroid series has a far better developed single player, and far less focus on multiplayer. It is also has a less linear level design and epic boss design. But if you like multiplayer, you'd be better off with halo.

If you couldn't tell by my description, I'll put it plainly. I love the single player. Now if only they added the controls to the first two games, I'd be in heaven...

Gameplaywise...not really. Halo 3 is a straight up sci-fi shooter. Metroid (Prime I assume) is an adventure game in a sci-fi setting that happens to be first person.

Although MP3 is more shooter than the other 2 Primes were.
