Going on vacation late next week and looking to pickup a new game to play on vacation. Right now the options I am deciding between, but have some hesitations:

KH3D - haven't played a KH games since the first one and worry that I will be so lost that the game won't be fun. I enjoyed the action in the demo, but since it didn't deal a whole lot with the story I an concenred I won't know whats going on and lose interest

NSMB2 - I know everyone is falling all over the game, but based on the reviews it seems like they took the first one and made some minor tweaks, so not sure if it is worth dropping $40 on right now. Might get it at some point, but don't know if I should get it know.

Heroes of Ruin - I won't have internet access on vacation so I will be flying solo the whole game. Plus once I get back I don't have many people who have the game so won't really delve into the mutilplayer aspect of the game very much if at all. I am also concerned because of the so-so reviews that the game might not be worth the $$ either.

I am also open to other suggestions. I am looking for preferably an action game, but woudl consider others

I was thinking about Theatrythm, but just finished playing Rythym Theif so not sure if I want another game like that so soon. Also I never really played the FF games (I played one or two here and there, but have no real knowledge of the series. So I fear I maybe lost as far as references etc.

I have already played and finished RE: Revelations and Kid Icarus Uprising so thsoe have been eliminated from contention.

Out of those choices, KH3D easily. It has a memoir thing to explain past events too.

I haven't played KH3D but I heard it is hard for newcomers to follow, so thats up to you.

I love Heroes of Ruin, but you're missing out on half the fun if you don't capitilize on multiplayer. I love the game but the economy is kind of broken, so its hard to recommend for just solo play. But you can play through it with all 4 classes. That would take up a good amount of your time. I think its worth playing through with 2 different classes, since is only takes 7-10 hours.

And if you're worried about NSMB2 being too familiar, maybe try Super Mario 3D Land. It is a fantastic blend of 2D and 3D platforming. I love it, and it brings back the tanooki suit. So if you haven't already played it, that is a fantastic game.

And Theatrhythm is probably my favorite music game ever, and I'm not a big FF fan. I just love the customization and the gamplay, along with the multiple difficulty levels. So if you don't want to play that right after Rhythm Thief, definitely get it in the future.

Other than that, there's always Ocarina of Time. That's certainly an action game, and a classic one at that. You've probably already played it but I'll throw it out there anyway.

I have Super Mario 3D and do love it. That is why I am also on the fence about NSMB2. I did try Zelda 3D and found it wasn't my cup of tea.

Well NSMB 2 has the new coin apect to it. And its Mario, you'll most likely enjoy it. It may not revolutionize the series but it will be a solid game and a safe bet. So if you're just looking for a game you know you'll enjoy this may be the one.

My pick of those would be Heroes of Ruin, but if your not really interested in the multiplayer than give it a pass, atleast until the price drops. So, I would recommend Tales of the Abyss. The game is 70 hours freakin long. It has a great story and only got 7/10 reviews because it is a port of a old PS2 game, otherwise it is a solid 8 to 9/10. Also, I didnt noticed that you have played MK7. If not get it. Sure you cant play the online untill you get back from vacation, but that will give you time to play through all 3 cc's of singleplayer to unlock everything and get a 3-star rating. I have over 100 hours of play just on that game. Hope this helps...

I do have MK7 and play it regularly.

Tales actually popped into my head a few minutes ago as another option. I tried it and liked it, but at the time I didn't really have the time needed to invest into it. With being on vacation for over a week I would be able to put a lot of time into it especially since I will be in the car for at least a combined total of 16-18 hrs.

I couldn't get into Tales because I didn't like the fact that you couldn't save wherever you wanted. I just didn't get into it overall, the battle system didn't grip me like I hoped. But many people love it.

If you're looking for a long rpg with an action-oriented battle system I say definitely give it a shot.

Super Mario 3D Land? That game is horrible, the only other purchase I equally regret is Spirit Camera. Out of the three choices I would have to say KH3D but I haven't played the other two but I do plan to with Heroes of Ruin.

Even though KH3D gives you a summary of the previous games, it's not enough to fully understand the relationship between the many protagonists and antagonists. I never played KH2 and its summary from KH3D didn't make much sense so I spent an entire night watching KH2 cutscenes until I understood the story.

NSMB2 is your best choice.

It was boring, easy, exactly like every Mario side scroller, and in the second map part was just so random and was like they weren't even trying and just made whatever levels came to mind.

I say Kingdom Hearts 3D, I had fun playing it & I'm playing it through again. That or New Super Mario Bros. 2, haven't played it, but it should be hard to go wrong with Mario Platformer. I don't know much about Heros of Ruin.

Tales of the Abyss is one of the easiest Tales games to understand and it has great music and a fun battle system, I highly recommend it.

Good choice. I would have recommended that, NSMB2, or Theatrhythm: Final Fantasy (Theatrhythm been my personal favorite release on the 3DS, and I've never been a fan of rhythm games before it). Tales is easily the best RPG on the system, though granted it's not a hard claim to make when it's also the only real RPG on the system.

Good call. Reminds me that I still need to finish it! Almost there!
