Having not played the original game for the NES, I'm really looking forward to playing the new one.

You are not missing that much by not playing the original Kid Icarus unless you are big fan or really hard old NES games. Uprising seems like it has pretty much nothing in common but the protagonist so it could be good. I am still a bit concerned about a handheld game that comes w/ a stand though, kinda seems like it might have done better on the Wii or something. I haven't written it off but I'm waiting for some player feedback before I actually buy it.
to be honest i don't see it living up to the hype and the wait but who knowselbert_b_23same here i think the games controls are messed up with the need for a stand as nintendo thinks its the best way to play also i see a real problem with keeping the 3ds still in this high action game for the 3d effect in also the reason for the stand this is the same type of game that crippled the psp without a second analog stick

It was only really the first level and the boss stages that were hard, it was a great game though.
But yeah, Uprising doesn't seem relevant in many ways to the original and in terms of its greatness, it all comes down to how long the single player is and how good the multiplayer is.
I am wicked hyped for Uprising. I have it preordered so I can download the 3D enhanced version of the original as well, which was one of my favorite games on the NES. Been waiting for a sequal for a looooong time.
Rail shooter that requires a special stand to play. Not hyped at all.mbrockwayWell enjoy not playing it, while we do.
a huge flopZumaJones07they better advertise the hell out of this game's multiplayer because it looks alright. kinda like 3D smash bros, but with weird characters. still not getting it though.
I agree, that is exactly how i look at it :PGame game seems like it's on the fence for me. It could be ok, it could flop, could be great. Difficult to judge given it's genre and it's practically a new IP. I'll read a review before I buy it.

The only thing I'm paranoid about is the online multiplayer. Something tells me it will be a lagfest like in Brawl. :?

I thought the stand was for the AR thing, anyways the game looks great hopefully the reviews are also great.

The stand is because you have to hold the thing one handed and use the stylus in the rail sections. Its carpal tunnel waiting to happen.
I actually enjoyed the first game, but have no interest in this. With the exception of the Star Wars: Rouge Squadron and Star Fox games, I've never enjoyed on-rails shooters.spike6958
It's not all on-rails.
Also, assuming everyone's seen the Nintendo Direct information on the game (if not then start watching), I do believe this game will receive an 8 or 8.5 from gamespot, because they seem to be a bit biased. If it gets a 9 I will be beyond impressed.
