Nintendo's Masahiro Sakurai, who is famed for creating Smash Bros. and more recentlyKid Icarus: Uprising, has said he's not interested in developing a sequel.

Kid Icarus: Uprising ScreenshotAsked byIGNif the first game was built with future titles in mind, Sakurai outright ruled out a second Kid Icarus title.

"If by 'lasting universe' you mean to ask if there's a sequel, the answer is no," he said. "We pushed a lot into the game in order to let people have this short yet deep experience, but the novelty of that would likely grow thin in the next game."

But that doesn't mean we won't ever see Pitt starring in his own game again. Sakurai said "perhaps we'll see someone else" besides him make another Kid Icarus "in another 25 years".

As we said in ourKid Icarus: Uprising review, this is 3DS's "most exciting game yet".

good. i love icarus but its a very complete package as is. another game that would be more of the same would wear very thin. certainly making another one for the 3DS would be a bit pointless. that said i hope we dont have to wait another 25 years for a new one. but its not unusual for a nintendo platform to have only one mario platformer or one zelda adventure and its good to see that nintendo will be treating icarus with the same level of care. i suspect we will see a new icarus made by another developer on the wiiu in a few years..possibly even towards the end of its run.

That's pretty upsetting, it would've been cool if this series would have taken off. I mean, it's a very unique character and the games themselves have never been bad, but very good. He would also make a much needed fresh-faced mascot for the system or gaming altogether, considering that the usual Mario/Sonic/Pokemon's have been done to death, not to mention also starring in a number of mediocre games.

Sequelism is a vile disease. I'm glad to see a response like that(and also to not hear it attributed to a series's profitability). On a side note, Nintendo needs to end it's ridiculous infatuation with dead zone shooting mechanics.

Guys, c'mon, the game just came out and you are whining about a sequel? I'm glad most of Nintendo franchises are not like COD.

Kid Icarus Uprising is one of those games that do not need a sequel. The franchise, however, does need another game. I'll probably want another one in the next 5 - 10 years.

Well, I'm fine with no immediate sequel, but I don't want to wait 25 years for a game like Kid Icarus :(

Didn't he also say he didn't want to work on another Smash Bros after Melee? Regardless, if Nintendo wants a sequel and he doesn't want to develop it, they'll just find someone else.

It didn't do well in sale? ....weird comment, since they continue to push Mario (2D) & Zelda.

Yea he did. Sakurai doesn't care for making sequel after sequel, but smash bros seems to be the one he can be persuaded to come back to. Yea it sucks hes not gonna develop any more kid icarus games, but nintendo is not gonna let that golden goose egg go rotten, theyll find someone to do it if he wont, its only a matter of time, anyone who thinks otherwise is just fooling themselves into believing the series is done when theres money to be made.

They should definitely make another Kid Icarus game, just not too soon. The only problem I had with Uprising was the frustrating ground controls...if they could fix that, the next game would definitely be AAA in my book.

All that was said, is that Sora wont do a sequel. If Nintendo wanted a new Kid Icarus game out by Christmas it would happen.

Well if Sora thinks he's bought all he can to the series then there's nothing more to be said, it's great that he bought back the series after 25 years, though I doubt Nintendo will just let it drift away again, perhaps they should get Retro to develop the next one (hell they should just challenge Retro to make a game for every Nintendo franchise)

Well, maybe in a few years he would have a change of heart, or not. A sequel is not a must for right now. But I imagine Nintendo would like to continue Kid Icarus, if they can't get them to make Uprising sequel, another team could pick up the franchise where last left off.

Kid Icarus is a great shooter, & always had been. I like to see the same team that make Sin & Punishment make the next Kid Icarus.

Yeah, But if it's a good game, it would certainly be nice to have some more games in the series. Doesn't have to be every year. Like... 1 or 2 per syatem perhaps? like most of Nintendo's series'.

I haven't played Kid Icarus yet, what do you mean by "dead zone shooting mechanics?"
