Due to current Laws, Rare hold the right to those games, and by Proxy, so does Microsoft.
So, dont be suprised if these pop on on the XBL Arcade with Stuff like Online Multiplayer.

Killer Instinct is likely. Rare have spoken out about Goldeneye too. But they said they'd have to speak with Nintendo and Activision if anything was to be sorted out.

Killer Instinct...... definitely not. I thought Nintendo owned all the code to Goldeneye anyway so I think Rare have nothing to do with it anymore. I think Nintendo would need to seek out Activision and MGM as the latter owns Bond and Activision has the licence.

the deal with Goldeneye is a three or four way confusion belt. You've got Rare who developed the game, Nintendo who produced it, Microsoft who owns Rare, and Activision who currently owns the James Bond license. Who knows how that would work out. Killer Instinct is a Rare property, so I doubt we'll be seeing that on VC unless Microsoft allows Rare to put stuff on VC.

Donkey Kong Country is already on the VC and Diddy Kong Racing has just come out on the DS so I don't think Microsoft will be challenging anything anytime soon...

I wonder if they will release Donkey kong 64 sometime... one of the best games I ever played.

But too bad it got some "rare" logos in-game and the most major issue is that you can play rare's game "jetpac" in the game(or whatever it called) and Microsoft is releasing a XBLA game of jetpac... grrrr

If Rare were expressing interest in talking over the rights of Goldeneye with Nintendo and Activision as my TV tells me, such talks with Nintendo about general Rare games become a posibility. I think that was my original point anyway lol.

Even though MS owns the right to publish new Rare titles, what about the older Rare titles nintendo published? I doubt MS can block nintendo from re-releasing a game they already published in the past. On that note, wouldn't Rare be happy to make more money for nothing by releasing a couple popular VC games?

Do you think these 2 titles will ever hit the Virtual Console???...and if so will you purchase it???...they need to bring back these classics to the Wii!!!

BullysWitFullys

Ubisoft's and Konomi's deal to bring TMNT: The Arcade Game to Xbox Live shows that anything is possible. What I'm wondering is......would Goldeneye be worth bringing out on the Wii's VC?

If the current games on the VC are any indication, Goldeneye would arrive unaltered. Are you really clamoring to huddle around the TV for 4 player splitscreen again? Would the Classic controller or Gamecube controller really do any justice to the way it controlled on the N64? Wouldn't you want the inclusion of online multiplayer, sharper graphical resolution and a better frame rate?

I'm not sure an unchanged Goldeneye would be very good for the VC, especially when it isn't hard to find N64's and copies of the original game. Killer Instinct ? Well...that would probably be fine unchanged.

People seem to be going on about Golden eye an awful lot...I personally dont care, nor do i want rare to put it up on the VC...People have to realize  that Golden eye was cool in 98, this is 2007...I have this game on my 64 and i can honestly say it'll score a 6.5 if it was rated now by GS..The FPS genre is one that has probably been the most exhausted of all genres, with todays standards Golden eye is like a tech demo...I know this will hurt alota folks but honestly thats just what it is...People should stop ranting about this game....

Killer instinct, now thats a game i really want to see..I've been praying the bring it out..That game holds up way more..

I see no reason why Nintendo can not release the SNES or N64 versions of KI.  Or Goldeneye for that matter.

Nintendo published both games, does that not give them the rights to those titles from those consoles?  It's not like Nintendo is remaking the games,  they are the exact same games that were already released years ago.

Perhaps what ever contract Nintendo and Rare had back then would still apply to these same games today...?

While there is some truth in that statement, the James Bond game licence is currently owned by Activision, so they would have to broker some sort of deal with Activision first to get any james bond game past, current, or future on the VC.
