Press release as follows:

IRVINE, CALIFORNIA — FEBRUARY 11, 2009 — Atlus U.S.A. today announced that it has secured the North American publishing rights for Knights in the Nightmare™, a groundbreaking new gaming experience for Nintendo DS™. Certain to be one of the most innovative titles of 2009, Knights in the Nightmare is wholly unique. Not easily placed in any one genre, the game requires players to throw out everything they know about roleplaying and strategy games and embrace something altogether new and fresh. Frantic, energetic action mixes with thought-provoking tactical gameplay, all within a beautifully-rendered fantasy setting and presented through a captivating, emotional narrative. Dripping with style and originality, Knights in the Nightmare delivers an unforgettable experience.

Knights in the Nightmare is scheduled for release on June 2, 2009 with an MSRP of $34.99.

About Knights in the Nightmare

Somewhere between heaven and the underworld — in the center of a quiet lake — stood an ancient castle known as Aventheim. One night, without warning, denizens of the netherworld emerged and slaughtered the kingdom; nary a soul was left alive.

Within an abandoned, long-forgotten church deep in the woods, a wisp is set free. Bereft of memory, it is drawn toward the monster-infested castle and re-awakens the souls of the vanquished knights, leading them back towards the fallen stronghold to confront the very forces of evil that took their lives.

Key Features

* An experience unlike any before it — Incorporating strategy RPG, real-time strategy, and shooter elements, you've never experienced a game like this. Control a Wisp with your stylus and activate the souls of deceased knights to aid you in destroying foes on the map. Enemies fire bullets in multiple directions, making it vital for players to master the unique touch controls.
* Over 100 playable characters — Find and recruit the ghosts of seven different cl_ssess of knights from your kingdom, and learn of their pasts, hopes, dreams, and untimely deaths. Sacrifice their souls to one another to balance their skills and create your ultimate party.
* A tale from two perspectives — This twice-told legend entangles you in a dark and brooding tale that is simultaneously examined through events both past and present. Complete the adventure to unlock the ability to play through the game with a new narrative twist, placing the antagonist in the starring role.

Convincing pictures here (nothing doctored of course)

So um, yay.

Can't say I'm totally looking forward to this one, I've had it since the middle of December but I haven't beaten it yet. It's not entirely the language issue, rather the whole "this game is different from anything you've ever touched" mantra being true.

My suggestion, demo Big Bang mini and practice avoiding intentional misses, when you get good enough, try focusing your attacks to near 90% accuracy. The time you take learning that will prepare you for the gameplay of every stage in this game, as this is one of very few efforts that sticks to one gameplay element the entire way.

P.S. The bonus is with Yggdra Union, access the tutorial (which will take several hours to complete) and your hostest will look very familiar..

Wrong company.

Atlus actually listens to fans, not begging consumers to buy more games than the pack-in that came with the console and the horrible pack-in that gave them another controller to play first said pack-in.

This game is being made by Sting, published by Atlus, and honestly, looks terrible (the art style is the only semi-attractive part of the presentation)

not just because its a quote "strategy role-playing, real-time strategy, and shooter game," but because for everything after disgaea, Atlus has disappointed...their games are either good (got lucky with Nippon Ichi) or terrible. There is no middle ground. You should look at the youtube video of this game: no one (including me) understood what was going on, but they STILL said they'd buy it just because it was atlus. That bothers me

Sweetness. Im probably gonna give this game another try tomorrow, I never really understood how to play it but if I can atleast get the basics down in the JPN version, I should be set.

Im happy that the DS is getting yet another RPG flood but its a shame we're issing out on the hidden gems that wont get localized.... Like Spectral Force, Wind of Nastaligo and Desiny Links.
