Coming from a Kuju press release...

Both studios of Kuju are actively developing games on one or more of the next gen consoles (PS4, Xbox one, Wii U) in addition to currently working up pitches for new concepts, specifically targeted to the latest consoles.

No word on what is in development or what studios are working on these titles, but it's good to know that support is on the way.

If it is Kuju London/Headstrong Games it might be Battalion Wars 3 since they are the team that makes Battalion Wars series.

Kuju's other studios are multiplat developers.

Man I sure hope it's NOT Battalion Wars 3. I bought that game based on everybody here's hype of it and man was that a big mistake. Be anything BUT Battalion Wars 3.

So many of you will hate me for suggesting this but rebooting Battalion Wars with a less cartoony (but still cartoony and colorful) art direction and aiming it at the bro-gamers isn't a bad idea for Nintendo. Battalion Wars is probably the easiest IP to change into "Nintendo's shooter" other than Metroid.

Third perso shooter with an emphasis on troop strategy in single player, emphasis on defense tower placement in multiplayer, that sounds good to me.

I hope it is Battalion Wars III, one of my fav games for the Wii. I still play it from time to time and, with the Wii U, online may be great for more than 2 players!

The good news is that I don't think your suggestion would warrant much hate at all. :)

That bad news is that I don't think it would warrant much emotion of any other kind to most people, either. :P

The so-called "bro-gamers" would react to a less stylized Battalion Wars much like they have most Nintendo games aimed at them that past decade and a half. They would totally ignore it and dismiss it because it's on a Nintendo platform, especially one that wasn't made exclusively for their kind. Only those that are die-hard fans of the series would even have a hint of an impression, and by making it less cartoony, Nintendo would be risking putting them off.

By the way, I looked around, and it doesn't seem like the press release confirms that Kuju is working on a Wii U game. It's an easy assumption to make, given the developer's history on Nintendo platforms, but for all we know, its project(s) could very well be on the other platforms. Nevertheless, it's something to keep an eye on.

Battalion Wars 3 would get me excited. BWii was a cool game. If they are making a third one in the series, though, I hope they keep the Wii remote and nunchuk control scheme as an option.

I would would prefer to use the Gamepad screen to command my units and then use the TV screen and the face buttons on the Gamepad to control the Unit I'm currently using as a 3rd Person shooter.
