Ok, lets say the game is released and sells over a million units like World at War did. If the game is crap, people are not going to buy any more COD games on Wii. At least World at War was somewhat decent.
What they really need to do is have Infinity Ward make an exclusive COD game for Wii during modern times, since they are a great developer, it will result most likely in a great game.
Until we get into another gaming generation in which the Nintendo console has similarly strong hardware to that of the others, I don't see us getting a good multiplatform game.

If the game manages to reach the million mark, that can possibly only imply that those who picked up World at War decided to get this game as well. In that sense, a fanbase has already been established. However, what if this game doesn't reach that mark or even come close to it? It could say that WoW is enough for them, this game wasn't what that userbase wanted, or a combination of the two. We have no way of telling this until the game is released, though.
As far as the other subject goes, I'll say the same thing about Infinity Ward that I say about any third party developer with the Wii. If they want to make a quality game now, there's nothing stopping them. The whole hardware thing has become too much of an excuse for developers who simply aren't interested in developing for the system. It's not like we haven't seen good third party games. Heck, we've seen third party multiplats that have fared BETTER on the Wii, so we know that it's a possibility when big-name developers actually devote time to the system and try to get the most out of it. Would IW's vision of Modern Warfare had been the same as the HD counterparts if they made a Wii version a few years ago? Maybe not in terms of visuals, AI, and things that hardware affect, but we have no way of telling if the Wii version itself could have held its own, if not stand out because of the Wii Remote and motion controls.
Instead, the Wii has to settle for a too-late port that's developed by a B-team developer, at best, that is giving out the impression to many that it's a mere cash-in on the franchise by the part of its publisher. That's not a hardware fault; that's an effort issue.
