Hi Gamespot forum.

I would like to get both Majoras mask and ocarina of time, but since I have both a 3ds and an n64 I don't know which one I should get...

Which version of the games would you suggest I picked up and why?

Thanks in advance

Rasmus

I recommend the 3ds version of them. They play much smoother and I honestly cannot go back from gyro aiming with the slingshot/bow. Just feels so right.

I havnt played the 3DS versions, but i recommend those also. I enjoy the portability of them. I bought them all though plus the two Wii U ones, but havnt played any, i have plans to next year to celebrate the anniversary of Zelda.

3ds version is much better, the frame rate is 30 flat. The n64 verison goes all over the place but hovers around 20 fps.

3DS versions of MM and OOT look beautiful. I just can't stand playing on such a tiny screen a game of that stature.

The only potential benefit of one of the N64 versions is MM's time aspect. They modified it in the remake to make it a bit more streamlined. People say that the streamlining actually takes away from the intensity of the game. I'm not sure myself. I loved it on the N64 and I loved it on the 3DS. But it's been far too long since I played the original, so I can't really remember if it was beneficial or not.

Otherwise, the 3DS versions of both games is better.

3ds version. They improve games with every outing for the most part. Great stuff.

3DS versions are prettier and slightly modified. I'd suggest getting the 3DS versions, unless you want to play on a TV or really want to experience the original release. Is Master Quest also on the N64 version? If not, then that's another reason to get the 3DS versions.

3DS. Improvements have been made aesthetically. Plus, you can never go wrong with portable Zelda.

The 3DS versions are amazing remakes of perfect N64 titles! I would say if you value Nostalgia and playing with the original controller, go with the N64 versions. However, currently it's cheaper to get the remakes, which have better graphics, controls, and portability.

I'm personally torn on this one. I think it all come down to nostalgia vs superiorly refined mechanics and framerate. OoT 3D is the superior version of the game - I don't think anyone can deny that, but regardless there is a certain charm to the original too and playing it on a TV is a benefit over a handheld no matter how you spin it. Also the lighting is too bright at times in the 3DS version. Ganon is less imposing because of it.. but that's just me.

MM64 is better than MM3D though, at least in my opinion. Less hand holding.
