Ocarina of Time Adult timeline -> Wind Waker (flooded Hyrule)-> Phantom Hourglass (Flooded Hyrule)-> Spirit Tracks (No flooding) Oh no. This means this game has to explain how we drained Hyrule... possibly creating continuity errors with Wind Waker. Also all the games occuring after OoT had to occur on the child side, b/c Hyrule was flooded on the adult side, but now thats up in the air. Oh god, why Nintendo, why? Just tell us there's no timeline.

Spirit Tracks actually takes place in a land called New Hyrule that Link and Tetra sailed to after Phantom Hourglass so that's why it's not flooded.

The whole point of those two sailing together was to find a new land to call New Hyrule...hense while there is no longer any very, very large bodies of water and a boat. Now you get big green fields and a choo-choo-twain.

Fans can speculate all they want, truth is though, there is no timeline intended. Any coincidences or similarities are purely coincidental or just there to tease fans :P

New Hyrule? omg! So is this Link and Zelda the same one from Wind Waker and Phanton Hourglass, or are they their descendents.

Exactly, unless someone can show me proof of Nintendo actually confirming an official timeline which I'm pretty sure they never did. Every timeline for LoZ I've seen was purely speculation.

I think it's time for everyone to accept that there is no Zelda time line.

I think that's missing the point of Wind Waker's unique ending. The world itself wasn't flooded, Hyrule was. It was sealed forever under water by the power of the Triforce itself, along with Ganon and the King of Hyrule. Link and Zelda (Tetra) and the rest went off for new adventures, wherever the ocean will take them.

In a lot of ways, the series that branches from Wind Waker is a new Zelda series altogether -- the old Hyrule with its old legends and old enemies are gone forever.

At least, that's how I interpreted it all.

man Im still confused why its called the Legend of ZELDA when it all revolves around a random boy while Zelda is sitting there bored being captured..... unless Zelda told the legend(but who knows what Gannon did to her while she was captured..... insanity anyone?) Also Note Link made an appearance in FINAL FANTASY in a grave where would that be in the Zelda chronology? I believe they add comments and similarities just to show you remnants/memories of the past games you have grown and changed with.

Anyways I don't believe about a time line I believe Link= You yourself being the unknown hero striving to save what should be your justice, peace, life, what ever you want it to be. While Gannon stands for everything you should be against(downfall, greed, destruction, to name a few.... I don't think they're is anything to it other than that.

As to this I think it goes to the past as to people thought that the end of the world layed on the edge of the world. People in the Great Sea were so comfortable with their charts and maps that were given to them by past ancestors I don't think many set sail to the sea to find what lies in them( except for pirates and whatnot who still stayed close their charts.) I think at the end of WW the king showed them that their was a world that hadn't been explored. in the beginning of the game I believe it is said Hyrule was flooded but that doesn't mean that it was the only country. Hence I think in spirit tracks Link = "Columbus" who discovered the new world hyrule = America or something similar to that concept.... anyways rant over :P

WHAT TIMELINE???? there's no timeline to screw up, easy like this. the direct sequels are direct sequels, and wind waker is past ocarina of time. that's the only timeline there is.

Timeline is speculation, I don't think Nintendo puts much thought into it, rather, come up with excuses for the game they want to make. e.g. "it's not flooded because it's 'New Hyrule'."

There is no Zelda timeline. All of those videos are theories.

So if there is no timeline, the timeline cannot be messed up.

Obviously the time-line of Zelda is disputed, and rightly so since Nintendo hasn't released an official statement on it (yet). Personally I think Nintendo probably has an idea of what Zelda's timeline is, and that's why we can find so many references to previous games in the latest Zeldas that come out (Hero of Time mentioned in WW, etc). They also probably enjoy reading the strange theories we come up with and that's why no official statement has been made! :D

For those of you who believe there's some sort of timeline, or those of who who have some time to kill, I recommend watching these timeline videos starting with #1. They only cover up to Twilight Princess, but they're interesting nonetheless: http://www.gametrailers.com/game/the-legend-of-zelda-retrospective/5269

There can't be a correct timeline because new Zeldas come out and the debate continues. There is no timeline I take each game as if its an entirely new adventure and don't care if it has connections with other Zeldas or not.

Lucid1314

not really since the first sentence says "the chronology of the Legend of Zelda series isfrequently debated by fans due to the fact that there are no solid confirmations from Nintendo"

Only the games that are said to be sequels can really be linked, other than that there is no connection, yes this game takes place 100 years after PH only because it was stated as such for the game, but trying to link this game to say minish cap is pointless since it will never make sense or connect since it really has no reason to. The other games dont really impact each new one at all other than lore and nods to past games, and its usually a retelling of the same legend we know and love but different than the last so theres no point in trying to figure it out how they would all fit together.
