yup it's now mine unless i can go on my comp and off my wiiHeh....i think we need to stay a bit more on topic now that the newbie found the newbie forums...
As for the argument, I say that Legend of Zelda is a much better game overall. It's really more accessible and a totally excellent choice to launch the Wii with. My only gripe is that they have not released the "correct" version of the game to feature Link's sword in his left hand. I know it sounds ridiculous, but for Nintendo to make another version so that lefties don't feel left out would be fabulous.
Super Paper Mario, on the other hand, is actually a more compact, but more complete package. The problem is that Nintendo marketed the game to the wrong demographic, and thus lost the audience that would have made this game terrific. SPM has the action that any 7 year old could enjoy (especially waggling) but has the dialog that only adults can follow. Without spoilers, I will say that the whole chaos theory could have been prevented if the bad guy knew the truth...but anyone with experience would never be able explain to that 7 year old exactly why not knowing makes you go bitter.
In the end, SPM beats out Zelda for having a complete storyline over 3D swording, but most people prefer the later because the former makes them bored.
Hmm, tough choice. Zelda is as Zelda has been, which isn't a bad thing, but doesn't feel too different from the others. It keeps you occupied (40 hours game time usually), but that's kind of a problem. I've had friends that were turned off from playing because it took too long to get into (4 hours to get to the 1st dungeon, what the heck?). Not to mention the normal buzz, bosses too easy, simple puzzles, yada yada, etc.
I thought Paper Mario was really fun because it drifted from the turn-based formula and merged with some Super Mario Bros. essences. It's nice that you can go back and replay levels, although you can't replay bosses and certain puzzles, like your basic RPG. It's a nice accessible game, but the lengthy dialogue can shut others off. It's not too long or short, either, so that's nice.
They're both great, but neither have much beat-the-game-and-get-everything-else replay value, besides restarting a new file. Not to mention none of my friends want to play, so that shuts the doors on sharing the game. Whining aside, I choose Zelda for epici-ness, and Super Paper Mario for pick-up-and-play fun. Seriously, none of these are true gems, so I'd just wait for the better games to come out later this year.
