If there is still anyone not convinced on buying Pikmin 2 for either GCN or Wii, I have a nice video for the new play control version. It makes me sad that my favorite game of all time only sold 360,000 copies in North America. Next to Super Smash Bros Brawl, Pikmin 2 is Nintendo's game with the highest production value (FMV cutscenes, 30-40 hour story mode, incredible battle mode multiplayer, great co-op gameplay, challenge mode for the extra hard core, 201 treasures to collect with data entries to read about each, piklopedia that desplays all of the planets lifeforms and explanations of each, etc). I also ask that you do not judge Pikmin 2 after what you have played in the first Pikmin game. The second removes any sort of day limit and adds a lot more to do.

In fact I, Pikminmaniac, used to dislike the first Pikmin game. It wasn't until I played Pikmin 2 that I fell in love with the series. After completing absolutely everything 100% in Pikmin 2 I craved more so i played and beat Pikmin 1 and found it incredible!

People need to demand and perchase more AAA titles from Nintendo outside of the Mario and Zelda series. Pikmin is without a doubt at the level of those two series (What do you expect from mastermind Miyamoto). Let's make Pikmin a success in North America!

Wow, Pikmin 2 only sold 36,000 copies? I guess I'm lucky to still have a copy, haha. But I'm with you too. I'll most likely skip out on the Pikmin 2 Wiimake since I still have it for the GC, but I'll probably get the first Pikmin Wiimake. The Pikmin duo is fantastic, and they remain some of my most liked games. It's a shame they didn't sell well according to you. Hopefully the Wiimakes sell well so when Pikmin 3 eventually comes out it will receive some more attention.

I sold my Pikmin 2 for 45 euro's so I could get the Wii version. Pikmin 2 is very rare here in the Netherlands.

Yeah, I think it roughly goes for the same price in the states, at least on ebay. It seems you can get anywhere from 40-60 US dollars based on the condition of the game. I don't plan on selling it, but it's nice to know I have a fairly rare game for once instead of actually looking for the rare game, haha.

Yeah, I plan on getting Pikmin 2 (Wii) when it hits North-America. Pikmin 1, I'm not too sure about though...(I've never played either) Anyone know when Pikmin 2 comes to N-A?

First one is so hard:(

Like many people, for me to buy or play a sequel of a game I have to finish the first.

0.36m = 360,000. I was wondering where they sold all those copies if both Japan and American only came up to a combined total of < 200K. Just pointing that out.

Already had both, sold 1 sometime ago. Also, am I the only one who liked the time limit in the first one?

I'm certainly buying the New Play Control Pikmin games. I've always been interested in the series, but for some reason I just never got around to playing them. Plus if we don't buy these, there's little chance that we'll get a Pikmin 3.

I would have loved to buy Pikmin 2 but Nintendo stopped production so soon after release, driving used prices skyward. I look forward to picking it up on the Wii since the first is a masterpiece.

I will pick up Pikmin because I had the second one and loved it. Since I missed the first I figure this a great chance to go back and check it out.

So was Endless Ocean, but I don't think that game ended up flying off of store shelves. :P

Anyways, a lot like similar threads of this nature, I'm not too big of a fan of this "Buy Pikmin 2" thing going on here. I will be a bit easier on Pikmin 2 because the game itself has proven itself to be a quality game, but I still can't support the message here. Now, I do plan on getting Pikmin 2 when it is released, but I don't think we need this to improve the game's chances of selling, nor do I think it will help. The success of this game will not change because the GameSpot community has been pretty much pressured to buy it. As a gamer, I just don't find this approach to be very fair to myself (even though I'm not influenced by this) or others. I'm not trying to do anything negative here; heck, I also hope Pikmin 2's second chance proves to be more successful than ever. Still, I think we should wait and see how people are able to approach the game and take it from there.

Don't take it personal or anything. It's just my two cents on the matter.

I like the time limit as well. It gives you a bit of a sense of urgency, especially at the end of the day when you're rushing all your Pikmin back and don't want to leave any behind.

Olimar got representation in brawl, which obviously sold well. Now that people know the series exists it should sell well.

Just pointing out the fact that just because it's a first party Wii title doesn't guarantee anything. Heck, Battalion Wars II didn't do that amazing, either, for that matter.

lol, pikmin maniac,u have NOTHING to worry about,i think its a given that this game will sell at least 1million units

the game looks "casual friendly" u know what i mean,so they'll be getting it,alot of "core" gamers did'nt get it the first time around,so they might be picking it up(as can be seen here on gamespot),its at a budget price, and theres a very high chance of nintendo promoting/advertising it

it'll make it,and ill be picking it up =]

I can't stress enough how badly I'm expecting confirmation of Pikmin 2, New Play style to come to America. I already trade in my GCN copy as, since RE4:WE, I found out that Wii-mote controls are ideal for so many remakes!! So yes, I'm in the waiting list for Pikmin, Pikmin 2 and, eventually Pikmin 3!!

They did not remove the time limit. You have to return to camp with your pikmin before the sun goes down, but you can take as many days as you want to complete Pikmin 2. So you can still do day-limit runs (you can definately beat Pikmin 2 with all 201 treasures within 14 days). There are also underground levels where there is no time limit at all. You go underground with the pikmin you have and you have to complete these dungeons with only the pikmin you brought with you. I absolutely love the ubderground levels.
