Much better than TP imo.
And no i don't want a gritty zelda because there aren't (m)any good colourful action adventure-ish games out there.
The entire look of the game really reminds me of A Link to the Past, and I feel the game has a throwback appeal to it.linkoot98
I agree one hundred percent. Glad someone else noticed it because that was the first thought I had. I am glad the game seems to be much more colorful and vibrant than Twilight Princess which looked much too dark for me. Having said all of that though, I was not blown away by the graphics like I was hoping to be and I can understand now why someone from Nintendo had made a comment about wishing Zelda could look like Monster Hunter Tri.
Still, if they can bring back any of the A Link to the Past Experience I will be satisfied. That remains my favorite Zelda title of all time. I have yet to be able to get into a 3D Zelda but I am hoping Skyward Sword will do the trick for me.
I love it. The Legend of Zelda originated as a colorful fantasy game, so the style suits it very well.
At first I didn't really care for the art style of the game. It just seemed a bit odd, making a kind of combination of WW and TP graphics, which didn't really seem right to me. But now that I'm starting to get used to it, and seeing more videos, I'm really starting to like what they did with the graphics. If they add enough polish by the time the game is released next year, then I could actually see this as being my favorite art style for a 3D game.Hungry_Homer111I kind of had the same reaction, only it was more of a 'oh the mixed tp and ww.' Rather than simply not caring for it I thought it would work don't have a problem with it. Now I like it quite a bit.
I like it more and more as I watch vids. Definitely good they went with it over Tp style (not that TP is bad, just need fresh visuals). The only problem I have right now is that there may not be quite enough detail in the environment as I would like. I mean blades of grass all over and such as WW had. Just felt a tad barren, but I am sure that is just this area.
I like it, but I wouldn't say I love it. It does seem like a combination of Twilight Princess and Mario Galaxy to me. I suppose it is the best way to make it look really good on the Wii.
This is my exact thoughts.I really like the character models but I think the environment isn't that good.

According to the Nintendo roundtable answers Nintendo gave, the graphics are actually holding up a quicker release of Skyward Sword. This gives me hope that the environments will be a bit more livelier in the final product.
I'm glad Nintendo decided to design Link as an adult as I don't like the style used in Wind Waker, Minish Cap and many others of the handheld games (...I think I may be the only one here...).
The colorful look however is awesome, although I did like TP's visuals. As long as it's adult Link, I don't care if it's dark or brightly colored.
If they are the graphics now I wonder what it will be like when finished, By the way they look beautiful now.
I Looove the art style and I'm not that big of a Zelda fan even though I did like Twilight Princess (Haven't played much Zelda). The new art style makes me think about Quest 64 for some reason and that's a REALLY good thing because I loooved Quest 64, never played Quest 2. I will get this new Zelda.
I don't like it nor do I dislike it; I'm indifferent to the art styIe. Though if there's one thing that does rub me the wrong way about the styIe, it's that Link looks out-of-place and doesn't mesh well with the environment around him.
It's an interesting artstyIe, to be sure. However, the Zelda team has a LOT of work to do on the graphics. The mixture between Wind Waker and Twilight Princess hasn't meshed perfectly and some parts of the game look quite odd. Some of the color choices don't really blend in all that well with the rest of the environment, such as the washed-out grass and the purple strewn on the walls. It really does clash with the environment and at the moment, I would say that Wind Waker's excellent use of color and simplistic textures makes look better than Skyward Sword. The monster design is also all over the place. You have some great enemies such as the Stalfos, but then you have the ugly Oompa Loompa things. From a technical standpoint, the Zelda team really needs to work on those jaggies and the detail in the environments. I also noticed some slight clipping issues here and there after watching some of the gameplay videos. Nintendo has until next year to work on it, so I am not worried too much about how the game will turn out. However, I wasn't blown away by Skyward Sword at E3 either.

Yup, there are a lot of things with the environment that really feel out of place. The level design, the monster design, and the use of color is all over the place. Link's model looks great though.

they're definietly going to improve it (along with the framerate, which ran smoothly on some demos but went weird on others), it's an announcement demo. like miyamoto said, they're only releasing it next year. as for the textures, i think they tried to go on an okami-ish styIe. everything feels like it was drawn with paint (obviously not the same kind of paint from okami, but paint nonetheless). they'll have to work a little on it too, though. and fix those weird piggy-like goblins >.>I prefer the Twilight Princess art style, but I still think it looks great. The cel shading should make for some great visuals on the Wii, and I'm really glad it's adult Link. Seeing all those mushrooms seemed a little out of place though, I half expected Mario to jump out on screen.ozzsoad
Yea the mushrooms were unnecessary. I just want to see a beautiful forest in the new artstyIe!

Yes, I know. One of the main reason it's being delayed until next year is because they need to work on the graphics. I hope that the color scheme isn't set in stone, because some parts look plain weird at times. The goblins are ugly, but some of the other stuff looks weird as well, like this monster right here with the rectangular shaped eyes and light blue lips.
In this image, the purple walls look SO strange in relation to the rest of the environment. And look at the details on the grass on the left. =P
Love the art style, but the giant mushrooms gotta go.
Made me feel like I was watching Alice in Wonderland. :P
it's happy demo forest, they need happy silly mushrooms and ridiculous-looking goblins :P[QUOTE="ANIMEguy10034"]

I would have preferred if the forest was more.... "realistic"... with the same art stlye.
Everything covered in trees, some birds and small animals, and other stuff that you would expect in a real forest. :P
It would look like a real painting, and the environment will feel much more serious.
I like it.
Although I wanted basically for TP to be upgraded. I loved the gritty look. But just because I wanted something else doesn't mean I don't like what Ninty has done.

Yea like both of you i kinda didnt know what to make of the art style at first so i was a bit apprehensive towards it. But seeing it in motion and checking out more of the character art its kinda of grown on me quite a bit, all in all i like it and its unique in its own way, i cant wait to see the finished game and see this games world with my own eyes, i sure it will be a sight to behold.
Hey GS community - I've been seeing a lot of negativity about the Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword, and as a lifetime Zelda fan, I must say I'm really excited about this game! I do think Nintendo could have presented it a lot better yesterday (a more telling trailer, please?!), but I'm really liking what I see so far. I LOVE the art style - Wind Waker is one of my favorite games ever, and seeing that mixed with a more Twilight Princess Link is awesome. The entire look of the game really reminds me of A Link to the Past, and I feel the game has a throwback appeal to it. I think it's funny that the consensus before yesterday's press conference was that Nintendo should change up Zelda - they seem to be doing so in many aspects, so let's stop the hatin' and enjoy what we have in store. :)linkoot98I have to agree, it looks awesome. Although I wasn't sure what to expect for... well anything with the game. And since the e3 showing. Im actually pretty excited. Gonna be a wicked game i think. Like all zelda games xD
I liked it straight from the get-go. Maybe cuz i was a little disappointed by the graphics of TP so this i felt had a cleaner look?
Its actually the old design, if you've ever seen the old players guides and art from game manuals. this is exactly what Link looked like. he even roughly looked like that in the old comics for ALTTP that came with Nintendo Power. I was just watching the trailer again on the Nintendo Channel and I love that they are actually able to give him that look in game. I'm just anxious to see more of it, but I can understand why some people don't like it, these days a lot of people have problems with bright colors and they saw a couple of the weird looking enemies and big mushrooms and didn't know what to make of it lol. But I like it and I'm looking forward to seeing more of it. I only expect it to get better when its in retail form, the game didn't have release polish.Love it. It's the fresh look that the series needed.
