I think it'll last for a normal 4-5 year cycle. The Wii has just begun, and graphically wise, we haven't seen anything particularly noteworthy yet. Besides, why do you think nintendo bundled Wii sports with the Wii? To prove a point. Our market has relied too much on graphics and many would not have bought the game even though now its pretty much the game everyone has to play, like on TV and stuff, whenever they want to show what the Wii is. It was on the Conan O'brien show, it was on the Today Show, and it's almost always the game discussed when journalists write articles on the net about the wii.
I think the next Wii will be an evolution of the revolution (aka Wii). Basically take the Wii, put in a monster CPU & GPU, real surround sound, through in a hard-drive, make it compatible with the new standard optical media (i.e. either Blu-Ray or HD-DVD) and improve the wii-mote and nunchuck to be more accurate and precise. That's the next Nintendo system imo. In fact, Nintendo seems to be on an innovate, evolve, innovate, evolve, etc. lifecycle: NES - Innovative home console with a real gamepad, lightgun, powerglove, and games that save!SNES - an evolution of the NES (improved graphics, refined controller)Nintendo 64 - Incredible 3d power for the time, analog stick!GameCube - an evolution of the N64 (improved graphics, updated media format, refined controller)Wii - Innovative motion-sensor systemNext Nintendo System - (evolution of the wii with improved graphics, refined controls, and updated media format)
