I wanted to see if anyone else is having a problem in Super Mario Galaxy 2. Everytime I play I start with 4 lives; no matter how many lives I have when I save and quit, I always start again with only 4 lives. It's not that big of a deal but it's kind of annoying when I've saved a quit with a bunch of lives and then lose them. Anyone else having this problem?

Yeah they programmed it that way, it's not a glitch. Talk to the toad to your left when you restart though, he'll give you an extra 5-up.

The only Mario game in which your lives are saved are Sunshine and I think Mario All-Stars.

Lives are so easy to get in Mario Galaxy 1&2, they're almost irrelevant. The next step will be to ditch lives altogether.

Yeah, the concept of lives is archaic nowadays, I can't believe they've clung to it for so long. Games like Sly Cooper, Jak & Daxter, and Ratchet & Clank kicked lives to the curb years ago and it only helped the experience.

In the past when games were harder, lives actually mattered. How frustrating was it to get to Bowser in 5-4 in SMB2 the lost levels only to lose and have to start over on 5-1 or the beginning? Nowadays, games are so easy, lives don't matter.

ya thats normal. but sometimes when i talk to that toad, he gives me 5 up, or he actually gives me 99 lives which was the amount of lives i originally had.

Yoshi's Island too. I almost have 200 lives in my GBA version.

Nope. Your lives are saved in both New Super Mario Bros. games as well.

it's not like it makes a difference, especially in the mario games. ran out of lives? game over screen, here, 5 more, and you didn't lose absolutely anything.
