I'm 23 and I don't know ANYONE with a DS... so I need some other grown-ups to share friend IDs... I'd really like to get Nookington's set up in Animal Crossing: Wild World. Something just feels creepy to me about letting a 12 year old hang out on my DS. (sorry childrens)

My friend ID is3308-9261-9705

Heh... yeah, I get where you're coming from. I'm an older gamer but I'm FAR from grown-up... does that count? :D

But hey, welcome to the glorious world of the DS as owned by an adult, and all the social ostracizing it can bring. What are you playing? I like a little of everything but I'm guilty of FPS overdosing, and I'm a race fiend with a lot of "BurnOut" titles laying broken at my virtual feet (which, if you go by my pic there at left, are furry but kinda cute in a way). But I love the DS because it's broken me out of those forms with the touch screen and all the strange stuff it brings with it...

... "Trauma Center: Under the Knife" and "Metroid Pinball" ended up being the first two titles I bought because I wanted games which took advantage of the dual screens and touch functionality and I got it in spades with both... although the pinball has gotten a pretty thick ol' layer of dust lately. The great thing I've found on the system is it's ability to teach me stuff, like vocabulary expansion from "My Word Coach", learning words I've never heard before like with "My Japanese Coach", and getting me off canned soup, frozen pizza, and noodles with "Personal Trainer - Cooking". I wish they had these games when I was a kid, I would have been a much more rounded person by now in terms of ancillary skills...

... hey neat-o!!! There's that "My Word Coach" kickin' in again! I'm usin' some real $5 words nowadays, ain't I? I mean, isn't me? I mean...

... awwww dang, I lost it again. Oh well. Enough about my goofiness & Cranial Rectosis (which is otherwise known as "Head-Up-*** Disease")...

Whadda you like? Are you playing "Animal Crossing" or were you using to crack the joke? Because yeah, I can't see having a 12-year-old on my DS, either... guuhhhh *shiver*... that is a lotta different shades of Wrong. It did, however, make me laugh outloud too...

... what else are you playin'?

i'm actually playing a lot of animal crossing... its a thing. i feel guilty for not playing brain age everyday like i promised myself i would. i also have ninja gaiden: dragon sword, cooking mama, and the sims 2... thinking about getting personal trainer: cooking and my 'quit smoking' coach... but i have a feeling the latter would go the way of brain age.

Ahhhh ssssssssMOKING... I miss it. Quit about two years ago. Hardest Boss Battle Ever.

Have you played much of the "Ninja Gaiden" yet? That game looks really sweet, and the touch screen control is just what I was talking about in terms of innovation... games like "Brain Age" need to be treated like brushing your teeth or a similar daily exercise in discipline.

I suck at discipline. How 'bout you?

But when I was getting into "Word Coach" I just started doing it over coffee in the morning. If I was having coffee, I was doing lessons. The result was making it habitual (like coffee)... oh, and I pissed off employees at the Starbuck's with my high-falootin' wordiness. But it got to be a thing and now I'm stuck with the association. If I drink coffee and I don't have my DS in-hand I get all weird...

... ok, so it doesn't take not having a DS to make me weird. But I AM in a rou-time with my edu-ka-shunal software an' a-gittin' smartered all the time! Uh, an' stuff...

I should probably pick up "Animal Crossing". I like slow-moving project games like that... my friends used to tease me mercilessly over it, but i played every version of "Reel Fishing" that came out because it was a nice change of pace from things blowing up or... more stuff exploding, I guess... because that's pretty much where a lot of video games fall back when they can't think of anything else... but the quiet "Hang Out" feel of the games really spoke to me in a lot of ways...

... what is it you like about The Crossing? And can you really "travel" to a friend's DS over the Internet? How does one interact with a visitor, and what if they just hang out and never leave? I have friends like that in the real world, ya know? But really, what's the magic about AC?

well, i have always been a huge rpg geek. i have played every generation and nearly every form of the sims... and i've played through the elder scrolls: oblivion on ps3 more than several times. i've never been the type to want to fight off a horde of beasties to save the city, though. i'd much rather bake a pie, go fishing, or rearrange the furniture in my room. that's basically the beauty of AC, there's really not much more to it. you fish, you find fossils, catch bugs (which i am TERRIBLE at)... pay off your home loans and try to collect a ton of furniture. which leads me to my reason for posting. in order to get Nookington's, the highest level of Tom Nook's shop in town, you have to spend a certain amount of 'bells' there AND have a friend come shop. i haven't ever had anyone visit my town, so i don't know how it works exactly... but i'm pretty sure it just exchanges environmental information with whoever is visiting, so that they become a character in your game.

oh yeah, by the way, ninja gaiden is pretty nice. that was actually the first demo i had tried on DS. the controls are stylus-based and a little iffy at times, but for the most part it feels natural to kill a bad guy by slicing him up and down with your stylus... much like slicing carrots in cooking mama, actually. but seriously, its a fun game, visually interesting... takes advantage of all the capabilities of the DS (even the microphone), but may be a little too easy.

I remember AC. It was my first DS game (got it in a bundle with my PHAT DS). Haven't played in a long time but for a while there it was really addicting. I used to love chasing down scorpions and spiders (which was actually really creepy as they'd jump out at you). I never got Nook's last store because I had invested so much time in my town and hated the idea of a stranger coming in spreading those nasty hacker seeds.

If you like Sims games, the best are: Sims Urbz for DS or Sims Bustin Out for the GBA. They both have fun storylines and lots of clever dialogue and good minigames. The rest are pretty poor (Sims 2 is only ok - although I do love the Pirate minigame).

Currently I'm enjoying Rune Factory 2 - sort of a cross between simulation & rpg. You get to garden, make friends, and kill things - what could be better?

As for my age, let's just say I'm approaching geezerhood status and leave it at that.

When people comment on my Nintendo DS addiction I merely say (politely): "Are you aware that video games provide a great deal of stress relief?"

They usually back off. :D

Hmm, I'm around your age... Since I do feel a bit discouraged with Animal Crossing for the Wii I could go back to the one I loved. Though I don't know how long I'd keep up with it. I'm pretty sure the old circle of friends I had deleted me a long time ago after I stopped playing. :P I probably have a bunch of weeds too.

Yeah... see... that would be my trouble with the game too.

My first and last forray into the Sims came with my 'cube, actually, and I got a Sims game for it. I was really intrigued by the concept because I was a huge SimCity fan and had played a bunch of those city planning games... I got the game home, fired it up, and proceeded to pick up the apartment after my slob of a virtual roommate. Then I thought to myself -

I do that in the REAL world!

And I stopped playing it. I think I would be into AC for a little while and then I would let my property go to hell... can you trailer-trash your town out, with a sink full of dirty dishes and maybe a car up on blocks in the front yard?

:D

That's something the Sims ought to look into... a "My Name Is Earl" version of the game... heh heh... one day your daughter comes home knocked up like she lives in the Alaska Governor's mansion... cue the banjo music...

... but I do like the concept of AC. I just wonder if my yard wouldn't be full of weeds too.

I'm a little older than you. I bought a DS recently just to play My Japanese Coach. Sadly, I don't have the time for RPGs anymore, and I'll probably end up using it as a portable browser or maybe hacking it into a GPS.

I'm 26 I don't play anything online with it now but I want phantasy star zero an that will change my possition on that but mostly I am playing the new versions of the classics I grew up with when it come to nintendo( I have found most new series just can't compare, with the exception of advanced war) I play mario, megaman, castlevania, and final fantasy(those are not all good either). I kind of have a love hate relationship with nintendo right now, I feal like there are way too many gimick games and not enough good suff coming anymore and I feal the same way about the wii but i also has some amazing classics and a bit of new good stuff too. I used to be in the military and almost everyone else had a ps2( I had a list of 2 exclusive games that I liked on it!) and most people would make comments about me playing the gamecube but I actually had all 3 systems it was just there were more good games on the gc and I don't feal like wii has done that and the ds seems to be in a slump(I didn't like the new castlevania anywhere near as much as portrait of ruin), but it is by far the best handheld, I feal like there is no competition, game systems are for gamesso inmho ds is the best.

I'm 19, and I enjoy playing the DS more than other systems for the most part. Also, my 15 year old brother hogs the 360/Wii. I prefer the DS, and the older systems, like PS1/2, NES, SNES. I played ACWW for a while but my girlfriend took it from me and plays it more now. I'll edit this and grab the code from it when I get the chance. I've been playing Resident Evil DS and Moon lately. The only games I play online are CoD: World at War and the occasional Mario Kart. I'm sure my girlfriend would like to visit another town in AC, as I don't think she's explored that aspect of it yet.

Wow, you guys are making me feel so young, i'm 18, 7 days to make 19, happy birthday for me. I enjoy the DS quite a while, but i think i can't help you much, i'm not used to play animal crossing or pets games. I enjoy games like Custom robo arena, megaman games and disgaea (noticeable, huh?)

Yet is quite natural that the DS is making sucess with older people, i have some friends share the same likes.

I didn't feel like replying to a thread that's called "looking for grown-ups" (you mean adults?), but after reading peoples comments, I devoted myself to finishing this sentence. Now that's over with, I don't really understand Animal Crossing let alone online games. There's just no end! If I wanted to do chores in a game, but with a purpose, I would play Lost in Blue (great series). Like 95% of the people in this thread who couldn't help with you friend codes, I can't either. Although I can, like the same 95%, say that I'm in the same age group as you. I'm just curious - what's wrong with inviting someone younger to help you out? Grown-up ego? Maturity? Last I checked, DS didn't have voice-chat, so why does it matter? Excuse my ignorance if you had bad experiences in the past..

Maybe topic creator is looking for people to keep contact with, trade e-mails and discussing their common likes to certain games, rather than just adding a random number to the DS just to do nothing more than play online.

I'm 23 in 2months, had no idea other adults enjoy the DS !. wish I could help you but I lost my copy of the game .
