Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles: Echoes of Time is a real time action RPG. The game features online dungeon crawling as well, but the game is at its best when you have three other friends playing with you.

The World Ends With You also has a real time battle system but you do use the touch screen to attack. It's also kind of weird with the battle encounters as the enemies are all on screen but you almost always have the option weather you want to engage in battle or not.

Ninja Town is also tons of fun but it's more of a Tower Defense game than RPG. I think Locks Quest is supposed to be a tower defense game with RPG elements in it but I can't say for sure since I only played the demo download.

Those are the only ones I can think of off the top of my head, if I think of any more I'll let you know.

One word:

Soma Bringer. Oh wait that's two...
It's an amazing game, but you have to import it from Japan. I don't understand why Nintendo didn't bring it to the U.S.

Firstly: random battles can still occur in real time. Secondly: I'd recommend LostMagic. It's an RTS rather than a real RPG, but it has some obvious role-playing elements, such as leveling up your units. The coolest part of the game is, without a doubt, drawing runes to cast spells. This is a really overlooked game and you can probably find a used copy relatively cheap.

I guess if you're going for the closest thing to real time try FF: Crystal Chronicles: Echoes of Time. I only got to play it with with 1 friend. The AI is a little dingy and you might get frustrated with the camera angles tho. At least that's what happened with me . Err the Children of Mana type games on the DS are also real time. There's also Castlevania games BUT I don't really consider them RPG's like some do. Just b/c there's a lvl up system doesn't always make it rpg... lol. *shrugs* Good luck with your decision :D
