I'm looking into ditching my 360 and going Nintendo only. I plan on buying a Wii U and 3DS XL in the next month or two, but I have some questions about the system.

Does the gamepad and classic controller have triggers like the 360 controller?

Can you play on the gamepad while it is charging?

Can the Wii U do custom soundtracks and rip music to the HDD like the 360?

Are there any kind of music services available on the Wii U like last.fm?

How is Black Ops II compared to the 360 version?

Are there any arcade sticks for the Wii U yet or will the Wii arcade stick work with it?

And finally can I use regular Wiimotes with the system or just motion plus wiimotes? I never bought the motion plus adaptor or the motion plus wiimotes all I have are the standard wiimotes.

Thank you in advance.

I can answer some of those. It has triggers, they are digital triggers, not analog but that doesn't really seem to make much of a difference except maybe in racing games. Yes you can play while charging, the charge cord is pretty long too. I dunno about the soundtracks Don't think there are any music services, but I could be wrong Black ops is basically the same as the 360 with a smaller userbase. Outside of core team deathmatch matchmaking goes a bit slow or is non existent. No idea on arcade sticks You can use regular wiimotes for most things unless the game requires motion plus, like some attractions in NintendoLand

What's the difference between digital and analog triggers?

And will the motionplus adaptor work or does it have to be the wiimotes with it built in?

Analog senses how hard you press down on the triggers and digital just knows that you if you are pressing or not pressing. Again this really only effects racing games and even then it's not that big of a deal. You can use Wii remotes with motion plus adapters. Also to clarify about Black Ops II the average amount of people playing at any given time is around 3000. Some of the more obscure modes might not have many people but most have enough to make several games. I know I play domination and it always finds about 5-8 good games to put me in. That isn't like the 60 games that the 360 version finds for the same mode but its obviously enough to play a 12 player game easily. Also playing the game online on the gamepad while other people watch TV is amazing.

I'm looking into ditching my 360 and going Nintendo only. I plan on buying a Wii U and 3DS XL in the next month or two, but I have some questions about the system.

Does the gamepad and classic controller have triggers like the 360 controller? A: Analog triggers, no. The Gamepad uses digital buttons, so they're like any other button on the controller.

Can you play on the gamepad while it is charging? A: Yes

Can the Wii U do custom soundtracks and rip music to the HDD like the 360? A: No, you cannot rip music to the Wii U, nor is PC connectivity through the network supported.

Are there any kind of music services available on the Wii U like last.fm? A: Certain music services may work through the web browser, if they don't use adobe flash. There is no dedicated music service app on the Wii U right now, if that's what ou're looking for.

How is Black Ops II compared to the 360 version? A: I don't own it. Users on Miiverse seem to enjoy it, though. Check the community reviews on Gamespot.

Are there any arcade sticks for the Wii U yet or will the Wii arcade stick work with it? A: There are no Wii U arcade sticks that I'm aware of, but those made for Wii should work just fine for Wii games. As for Wii U titles, I'm not sure. It would probably depend on whether the classic controller(Wii) is supported.

And finally can I use regular Wiimotes with the system or just motion plus wiimotes? I never bought the motion plus adaptor or the motion plus wiimotes all I have are the standard wiimotes. A: Yes, you can use regular Wiimotes. However, certain games require motionplus.

Thank you in advance.

Thank you everyone for the helpful answers. Sucks about custom soundtracks but to be honest I barely used the feature on the original Xbox and 360. Hopefully they add a music service although I'm sure the bluray player I purchase will have something to cover that avenue. I forgot to ask also does the gamepad have any kind of built in mic for voicechat as the only headset I saw on gamestops website is like a hundred dollars. And does the online service have things like parties, messaging, invites in game and out of game, and cross game chat like Xbox live does? Sorry for all the questions but figured I would ask people with hands on experience.

The gamepad does have a mic on it, but most games don't use it for chatting. You can actually use any headset with a microphone attached though (like cell phone headphones). The online service does have messaging but no cross game chat. All party, voice chatting and invites are handled in game. That's what the PS3 does too, I guess that's the one benefit of paying Xbox live gold. I know once your in a game of Black Ops 2 its easy to start a party and chat. I owned the 360 version of the original Black ops and it works the same. Your friends just have to either be already playing the game or messaged ahead of time through miiverse to send invites to the party.

You don't want the Wii U

It has literally nothing you're looking for

In most cases multiplats (like Black Ops) are inferior and/or missing content

It's message system is poor compared to elsewhere

It's chat system is clumsy where the pro controller isn't even supported

What you're looking for the Wii U does not have and will never have, it'sd a different kind of animal

Just stick to hardware that has the things you prefer, if you want something different that lacks the things you like pick up a Wii U ALONG with whatever else you have.

For you the Wii U is a mistake

What content is missing from blops2 other than nuketown and the first map pack which only 360 has right now. Wii U has plenty for me such as free online, and off tv play which has been the major selling point for me as I have three kids and a fourth on the way in April. Plus a wife that likes to watch tv. But also it gives me and her something to play together since she loves Nintendo games and hates fps games which is pretty much the dominant genre on the 360. I'm just asking some general questions so I know what to expect. And most of those features I never used much on 360. The majority of my friends were always on Netflix and the only game we really played a lot when we did was blops2. I'm also looking for something with a good local multiplayer option and Nintendo usually excels in that area.

It looks like others have answered your specific questions, so I'm just throwing this out there: if you plan on going "Nintendo only," you may miss out on a lot of gaming experiences in the next gen. Similarly, those who don't have a Nintendo system at all will miss out on many quality games. I'm basing that prediction on this gen; the Wii library had very little overlap with the 360 or PS3, and if the 720 and PS4 are significantly more powerful than the Wii U, I think the situation will stay the same. Don't get me wrong, I love Nintendo systems and games, and if I was stuck on a desert island with only one developer's games, I would pick Nintendo. But you're not on a desert island, so without knowing exactly what your intentions and circumstances are, I would warn against ditching your 360 without need.

1: Triggers and bumpers yes. They are digital not analog though or is that backwords? meh doesnt matter.

2: Yes you can play the Gamepad while its charging.

3: Wii U doesnt play CD's or DVDs. Nintendo is a VIDEO GAME COMPANY not a Home Entertainment company. Play music on youtube via the internet browser. Its an awesome internet browser. Im on it right now typing this up lol. Also Wii U has Internal Flash Memory it doesnt have a HDD. Internal Flash is far superior anyway. Oh course you can buy an external harddrive if you want.

4: No music services. Again Youtube on the browser lol.

5: (Uhg) COD BO 2 is basically the same as the 360 version but its free online lol so its better.

6: No clue what you mean about Arcade Sticks?

7: All Wiimotes work on the Wii U, unless a game specifies it needs a Wii Motion Plus controller like Nintendoland.

8: Gamepad has a built in mic. COD BO 2, AC3, and Mass Effect 3 are the only games with voice chat for now. There is no Party Chat yet but Iwata says its coming in the future. Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate will probably have voice chat.

Ignore Jasonguy he is the king troll in the Nintendo section.

You're welcome.

P.S 3DS XL...Ewww that stretches the game. Original 3DS is far superior.

I'm looking into ditching my 360 and going Nintendo only. I plan on buying a Wii U and 3DS XL in the next month or two, but I have some questions about the system.

Does the gamepad and classic controller have triggers like the 360 controller? The Pro Controller does yes, but they are digital not analog.

Can you play on the gamepad while it is charging? Yes, you can.

Can the Wii U do custom soundtracks and rip music to the HDD like the 360? You could do this with an SD card with some Wii games but for the most part games don't support this so no.

Are there any kind of music services available on the Wii U like last.fm? No, none at all

How is Black Ops II compared to the 360 version? Small player base at 3,000 right now but they are much more tolerable. Less kids and more somewhat polite adults

Are there any arcade sticks for the Wii U yet or will the Wii arcade stick work with it? I think there may be for Tekken but as is there isn't much need for it since there aren't a lot of fighters on the system right now

And finally can I use regular Wiimotes with the system or just motion plus wiimotes? I never bought the motion plus adaptor or the motion plus wiimotes all I have are the standard wiimotes. Some games will require Motion plus, some won't. Metroid Blast and Zelda Quest in Nintendo Land require Motion Plus while the rest of the mini-games don't. So its a mixed bag. Might as well go with motiono plus anyway.

Thank you in advance.

What do you mean? I can get a bit over the top in discusions sometimes but i never tell ppl they like 'garbage'. But you actually seem to care about whether a stranger on the internet gave you credit for a decision he made over giving the credit to his wife. I'm sorry if using the term 'pathetic' offended you and as much as I dislike some of your posts I don't want to be that rude. Perhaps it was too strong of a word. But acting like he owes credit for anything is something I find odd.
