a 5.5
A 5.5?!? are they freakin serious?! first final fantasy 5, now this a 5.5. Whoever is reviewing these should be fired...

shyn_1 your avatar is awesome! gotta love the stooges.
and not to be totally off topic, I don't know what anyone was expecting from wiiware given the space constraints but I sure wasn't expecting 40+ epic adventure games. If the reviewer was, he was disillusioned. Most games anymore outside the rpg/adventure genre clock in at about 10 to 12 hours and average 50 to 60 bucks. 10 bucks for 3 hours is spot on with what the market is offering. Also, they had beef with the art style and I have to get cliche and say, there's no accounting for taste...
I completely disagree with pretty much everything in that review.
How can a game have "some gorgeous environments" as a positive and "too many ugly environments" as a negative? And the caverns aren't nearly as ugly and bland as he says. They have mushrooms. Mushrooms! And some waterfalls. And crystals. Seriously, it's a cave. It's not going to be as beautiful as anything above ground.
The controls are spot on. His major complaint about the wind blowing in the opposition direction never happened to me. I agree that rocks could be hard to move early on, but that problem goes away once you have the slipstream. I have no idea what camera glitches he's talking about, either.
The art styIe fits the game very well. It is sleepy and relaxing, not too difficult. That's what it was trying to do. It could've had some more difficult puzzles, but they aren't all as cake (or is it pie... probably pie) as he describes.
As I've explained before, the average three-hour length fits with the price. Since it's $10, a full-length game of this sort would be about 15 hours long at $50. It fits perfectly.
I don't think I've ever disagreed so thoroughly with a Gamespot review. It's like we played a different game altogether. This pretty much forces me to write up my own review. ;)
Were they high when they reviewed this? :|SMR-Venom
It would've gotten a much better review if that were true. ;)

Why do you wink so much? :?The problem as I see it is that this review seems to want to compare the game with full price retail titles. That's like comparing a budget sedan to a limousine.
Also, I to NEVER ran into the control problems that they're mentioning.

Because if I don't, some people won't know I'm joking. Sad, I know.

I agree. He never mentions the price or the value. At least the Crystal Chronicles review makes a significant point about the price. That's the main reason for reviews - to help us spend our money wisely. You have to take into account the lower price point for this game.

Why do you wink so much? :?some emoticons are quite effective at conveying a friendly tone. ;) that just so happens to be one.
i dont understand how gamespot is always well below the average scores of other sites, they must have the most harsh or most unexperienced reviewers out there.etbny22I think always is exaggerating it a bit.

Or they want us to come back and see what they screw up next.;)
The more people that come to Gamespot the better it is for them.
Ugh another day another terrible review from GS. I've been having trouble agreeing with any of GS's reviews after all the staff departures but I guess this just finalises things for me... I can't trust GS's reviews anymore.
EDIT: and why the **** are they comparing this game to Okami??
I very rarely completely disagree with something I"ve seen on GS, but this one is one I can't stand behind. This game is fabulous. The controls I experienced were spot on. Toku always did what I wanted him to. Once I got a good handle on just how much the wind blows things around I was able to put rocks on platforms with no problems.
The visuals are gorgeous, even in the "drab underground" portions of the game. It's a FREAKING cave. It's not going to be pretty, but I think Frontier did a good job adding some character to it.
I happen to like the music as well and would like to be able to download it to my iPod.
I'm eagerly awaiting the sequel to this game and am off to write my review for LostWinds now.
I'm not going to get the game now...

If you're not getting this game because Gamespot gave it a 5.5 you are seriously robbing yourself of one of the greatest games on the system right now. Especially for the price.
wow... I`m not a review persone... is all about opinion.. but I was shocked b this one (one of the few that have done that) so here I am...
I was not expecting an high score, is true is too short. But imho that is the only bad thing about it... I was hoping for a 7.5, at least a 6.5
It make you wonder, would it have had a better review if it would have be priced at 5US$??
I agree with all Jordan said, exc the price/long thing..
Apparently this game didn't have enough chainsaw.
goblaa
No, it didnt have enough mudkip :P, haha jk jk :P
I don't complain about reviews here or at other sites but this one is just wrong to me. This is a good game. It may be short but it is $10. And for anyone thinking of getting this game look at the players reviews, scores, and scores on other sites. The ign review was good.
Were they high when they reviewed this? :|SMR-Venom
No, they were low, so low they couldn't see more than the shoes of a great, innovative, beautiful, and well controlled game. It's a shame for them
