LucasArts confirms LightSaber game for Wii!

we all knew this was coming, but its great to finally hear this from LucasArts themselves. what are your thoughts?

No way will it sell more than Halo 3. People will probably buy a 360 just for Halo 3. I mean there will be games that will sell probably just as much or more, like Brawl, but definetly not a Starwars light saber game.

Actually thinking about this right now... what if its a new franchise of FPS games? I mean, they're probably would be guns and light sabers, I'm hoping this will be the new Halo.

First thought: "**** it LucasArts. Less StarWars games, more OPs or at least a new Monkey Island game"

There you are. Holding a light saber in the third person wouldn't be very intuitive or fun so one presumes it's a kinda FPS (first person swordplay) Now who wouldn't want to play that. There are more Star wars fans than Halophiles hence there may be people who want to do all the crazy light saber stuff and would buy a wii just for this game. Therefore classed as a potential system seller. I for one would like a decent (Not a star wars fan) Sword fighter with tight controls (not red steel style) so i'll be buying it. Add online multiplayer and the phase 'Halo killer' can be used!

There may be a slight hyperbole in there somewhere but people have been wanting a lightsaber game for years. How many kids have pretended to be Yoda doing a Level 4 Omnislash in their bedrooms. If it gets releashed before Xmas with present buying season in full effect sales could be monumental.

George lucas has just as much marketing power as Mircosoft. They'll be promoting the game everywhere including on the traditional re-releases of the Dvds. Note outside of Gaming Halo is virtually unknown but the whole world is aware of the star wars name and most households have watched the movies atleast once. George lucas made the world go and seethe prequals didn't he? I expect halo 3 to sell well but IF lucas arts gets the game right and markets it well then it COULD sell more than Halo 3

I must admit GTA4 will sell millions that if it doesn't get a AO rating or gets banned in the UK. In any regard it's gonna be a great year for gamers :)

Yup, greatgames to look forward to this year.

the StarWars brand is pretty strong. if this game turns out to be AAA, it could definately outsell Halo 3

What? Lol no my paranoid friend, I really mean that they JUST confirmed a star wars game, and in justa few months we'll have something to play. I bet you it's a port of Star Wars the Force Unleashed. That's the only way they can release it so fast.

Thats not really possible, since the force unleashed is not due out until 2008, but whatever it is hopefully it isnt a FPS, I would much rather a 3rd person action game.
