Majora's Mask would have been a wiser choice for Wii U

I'm sure you guys have had this thread before but at least Im not worrying my balls off over Wii U sales.

Anyways, back to the topic, I think Majora's Mask would be more effective on Wii U than Wind Waker, because the graphical improvment would be much easier to notice. Majora's mask would use the power better, since it's art style goes for a more realistic look, while WW is much more cartoony. Overall, there would be way less people denying the graphical improvement of the game.

Also, a lot of the WW fans still have the game on gamecube, and in good working order. I know MM may be on VC, but come on... after ten years Wind Waker doesn't look bad enough to be remade yet IMO

Any agrees/disagrees? Discuss.

see but with majora it would have to be a remake... a complete overhaul. because its an n64 game.

windwaker is much better graphically since it was on the gamecube. so nintendo feels this game would look more impressive in HD without having to completetly remake the game.

Nothing has even been offically confirmed for MM.  For all we know, it's not getting remade at all.

As said Majora's Mask would require a complete overhaul and have to be remade. I just don't all that effort being spent on MM when the Wii U Zelda isn't done yet(I'm sure it's well into progress). If anything, it will get a 3DS version like Ocarina did.

I agree. But who knows, I'm sure at some point they'll re-release Majora's Mask in HD. Whether it's for the WiiU or the next Nintendo console, who knows.

It would have been a shitton more work. Wind Waker is much easier to port due to its art style, plus, the Wii U can execute Gamecube code, so the game was already written. It's a matter of going back and tuning it up in a few ways. In contrast, Majora's Mask would have needed everything redone from scratch. I would have liked it more than Wind Waker, but I doubt it would have ever been ready for October.

I disagree that Majora would have been the wiser choice, as it would have required far more development resources and time; which isn't ideal when the Wii U is struggling so much in the market.

Yeah as an older game, TLoZ: Majora's Mask seems more due for a remake than Wind Waker. I have yet to play Majora's Mask, actually. I bet it would look slick with Wii U's hardware behind it.

Nintendo shouldn't be focusing on remakes, period.

They should bring new stuff

I dunno, TLoZ: Ocarina of Time 3D looks a lot better than the original. I'm glad they made that remake.

I completely agree.

I love Majora's Mask as much as anyone, but I will be happy if it remains still back in the year 2000 while Nintendo works on brand new games.

OOT 3D is certainly the definitive version of OOT, it looks amazing, and allows a whole new generation of gamers to get into the title. However, it is not half as interesting as a new Zelda game would have been.

I'd honestly they rather just do both. There's no need to have to choose between remakes and new content. I really would like to see a Majora's Mask remake someday though.

Agree but Nintendo would rather make the least expensive remake.

This has everything I was going to say, so I might as well quote it. Anyways, Wind Waker is my personal favorite game of all time, so I am looking forward to it.

I agree but Nintendo only decided to make Wind Waker HD when they were testing out artstyles from the other Zelda's using Wii hardware to decide which they will use on the Wii U Zelda and they all loved how the Wind Waker artstyle looked with Wii U hardware so they decided to remake it.

Yes but MM is the least accessible Zelda. Plus, it isn't a better fit on Wii U for Nintendo because they already developed all the assets needed when remaking Ocarina on 3DS, thus the reasoning why MM 3D will eventually come out since half the game is already developed

In addition to everything listed above, Wind Waker is also currently the only "old" Zelda console game that had yet to be released on anything other than its original system. Majora's Mask got put on Wii's Virtual Console a few years back. WW was the least redundant entry to make.

Doing both, updating the classics and creating new experiences, will always be the best choice, so I agree. However, the company has a limited number of resources, so they invariably have to choose between one or another.

Every developer working hard to produce a remake is a developer who is not working hard to produce something completely new.

That's true. But I don't think they should abandon remakes altogether. I think the best thing to do is focus mostly on new content, with some remakes of old classics once in a while.

I think MM still holds up well, except for the framerate.

A 3DS remake akin to OoT 3D would have been reasonable.

No redoing Zelda 1 & 2 would of been wiser thing to do. Besides, I've been hearing they might save it for the 3DS.

Well put. This is exactly what I was thinking.
