Many people dont realise the importance of pokemon battle revolution.

It seems like everyone I see in the forum thinks that pokemon is going to suck and its not worth buying or even renting. Well this may be the most important game for the wii because:

It is the first to use the ds to wii connectivity

First online game

First game that looks better than the xbox library (despite its cartoony graphics)

First pokemon game for the wii.

Well, taking the first Pokemon Stadium for example here on GameSpot... it got a 5.7  So yeah, it's not like we're waiting for a triumphant sequel to a stellar game.  Compare it to the craze that is Killzone 2 on the PS3... Killzone (the original) was just plain ol' medioce, so why the excitement.

Secondly, I've said this before and I'll say it again.  The fact that a company is holding off implementing their online infastructure until the release of a Pokemon game, in North America, should just raise a tone of red flags.  What are they thinking?  Weren't we promised online games would be out in January?  That was 5 months ago...

i really HOPE this pokemon will not be a reference for future game developpers

- you can only play online with people that you have shared your ID with

- that game will not be fully enjoyable unless you have at least 1 of the DS' pokemon

if developpers try to make games and planing on copying that pokemon's internet feature it would be a disaster

This game is going to dictate how a lot of Nintendo's future plays out for it's consoles, handhelds, and their online ability.

Not true at all 

PBR is important because for a Pokemon fan it does the only thing D/P doesn't do - real-time random battles.

Yeah, it pretty much is. It's basically Pokemon Stadium Wii, Stadium was gimped if you didn't have a Gameboy Cart.

if you don't have pearl or w/e (the other one on DS) you will have to play PBR with "rented" pokemons wich are really weak and can't evolve ...
basicaly this game is just like pokemon stadium, it's not a "typical" pokemon game at all, you won't collect pokemons, all you do is fighting online and 1 console multiplayer

I don't know if you've followed Pokemon and how it's released but the adventure games have always been on the handhelds while the pure arena games have been on the console.

And the pure arena games have always been mediocre. It's like buying a final fantasy game where literally all you do is move from battle to battle. I don't get why you guys act like this game is such a big deal...

I am not a pokemon fan so I will not be picking this up, but do in fact hope it is a good game and shows good online support.

It's a fighting game, you either like them or you don't.

Why it's important

1. Shows off Nintendo's online service.

2. Shows off the Wii/DS connection.

Both of those things will be greatly influenced by how well this title does, moreso then other titles because this one incorporates both of them in one of their most popular franchises.

i think you are wrong about saying PBR will be important , because the kinda of multiplayer system it will be, i think, should not be considered as good by other developpers. beeing only able to play against people that you shared friends code with is wrong, totaly wrong and ruins the spirit the online multiplayer ... it would be like calling your friend saying "come at my house we'll play video game" but instead you have to call him for him to go online...

and btw, for connectivité Wii/DS .. how is it even important ? is there any other game, or plan about using such thing ? (answer plz if you know about that)

It's Pokemon Stadium 5 is all.  It's gonna be a throw away game.  I bet it won't be any better that the last several Pokemon sonsole.  I bet it wont even get a 7.5.  It'll most likely get somthing like a 6.7 or somthing.  So what if it's the firsto nline game on the Wii?  It doenst mean it's gonna be good. 

And to say the game looks better than the X-box library is a joke.  A horrible, horrible joke.

Pokemon Stadium 3, the other two were RPGs that were mediocre (XD:Gale of Darkness) to bad (Colloseum). It'll get 3.9 and nobody would care, Pokemon games don't go for critical praise, especially the 3D ones, which never score decent anyways (yet still sell, so obviously nobody cares). It'll be great for a D/P owner, as essentially all the Stadium-type games are are expansion packs for the handheld games.

I honestly hope that what is essentially an expansion pack isn't better than the Xbox library. Because that would be the horrible joke.

ok, so the only thing you find good about that game are graphics ?!

dude, it's a 2d background, just few little items in 3d for the arena and some pokemons ... what i mean is that all the game is static, you don't see a lot of things at once, so of course they could make the pokemons look better because all the rest is not demanding for the console

... but if all you were thinking of was that it looks better than previous stadium games, well thats not a reason to buy it, i guess it had to be better since the console improved

Then you're really missing Nintendo's direction right now.

Though people also think that Wii Sports should be online so it's not surprising that people are missing the boat on this issue also. 

There are a LOT of games that should've been online. The reason I don't play Wii Sports anymore, or haven't bought WarioWare is cause I don't have anyone to play with. I know it might take a while for Nintendo to establish it's online network, but I really hope you're not suggesting that Nintendo's direction is only aiming at Pokemon fans.

I actually hate these pokemon battle games.  Hate them with my very soul.   What I don't understand is why they just don't release an awesome Pokemon RPG for new consoles using souped up graphics?  I would buy that in a second.  Instead, it's like the only idea they have is for Pokemon RPGs to have crappy graphics and therefore make them handheld games, and for the console Pokemon games to be crappy "battle" games.

My favourite part about the original pokemon stadiums where the crazy minigames, i was never that interested in battling.  However, having the ability to play against others online, now that would make it more then worth it for me!  I agree, pokemone battle revolution could be very important for the wii.  Both for some of the reasons you mentioned and also if the online element is enough of a hit, maybe nintendo will push for greater more well thought out online strategies.

Us european gamers get smash football as our first online game, so I have next to no anticipation of this game.

Looking forward to playing Strikers Charged online in a couple of weeks. (I'm in UK)  The online for that looks really good.

I've never played a Pokemon game, so I doubt I'll make PBR the first one I try.

The first online game will be Super Mario Strikers, it's getting launched on may 25 here in europe.
