I don't believe so. I have my home menu's layout to just one click short of having the whole expanded view in screen (which is the largest view space you get.) I don't remember the full amount of rooms, but I don't think it also increased because all my apps are in their same position. If it added another column though that would null this, but then I wouldn't have it one click away from fitting the screen (which is the last size view).

The room on the home menu is, or at least for me, determined by the number of games I had on the screen. I noticed it increased greatly a couple of months ago, shortly after recieving the 10 NES games.

According to the 3DS manual, it can hold 300 software titles. When I counted the boxes, there were 60. So maybe it increases when you get more apps? Just a thought.

It's very likely. I mean the 3DS uses up to 32 GB SDHC memory cards, so it's possible that it does expand.

Yeah it does expand once you reach a certain number of apps. Mine got bigger after downloading a bunch of trailers. It expanded to 120. I checked my wife's 3DS and it still had the 60 slots as she doesn't download anywhere near as many games and such as me. It's good to know it goes up to 300. It will probably take a while to reach that.

Mine is only at 60 boxes still, so it seems I don't download enough... :P

I'm glad it expands. I was worried I would eventually fill it up and not be able to install anything. I doubt I'll fill up 300 spots.

How much space you have on your home menu screen is determined wholly by the number of icons you have. To begin with, you are given 60 empty slots. As you get closer to filling them up, the menu screen expands to 120 slots. I would assume it continues expanding upwards in increments of 60 till an upper limit is reached.

AH! The mysetery is solved! =D Thats really cool! stays small until you need it to expand, to avoid feeling pressured to fill the darn thing up! LOVE it! ;D

See, if they were greedy, they would let you know RIGHT AWAY how much they want you to spend by having all the boxes available. Why I love Nintendo ;)
