yes, so, seeing as i'm a pianist.. and i tune pianos also.... the mario galaxy opening little title screenfanfare (the last long note, to be specific) drives me absolutely bonkers. i mean seriously, it sounds like absolute trash in audio form.

is there anyone else out there in gamespot world that shares my grief? is there anyone who hears what sounds to be a trumpet that's like 50cents flat (who knows what's really going on with that chord)????? what was that audio tech thinking?!?

but hey, it's a great game, so what can you do...

also i just wanted to mention, galaxies contains the best mario music i've heard so far. that's discounting the nes and snes games though, cause no new game will ever beat the musical genius of games from those 2 systems. comes close though. reaaaaaaaal close.

I'll get back to you on that on 12/25. I'm a musician and have a strong ear for pitches and intonation problems so I may hear those dead notes you do. Just can't play it till christmas.

To me, the trumpet actually sounds a little sharp, so what I think you're hearing is the lower instrument, French horn, sounding flat in relation to the trumpet. It's definitely out of tune, though. Good call.

If you were to ask the trumpet player, then everyone else was wrong but him. :P

I don't really know what music you're talking about.
You mean in the main menu? Or when you on the 'PRESS A+B' screen?

This comes from an untrained ear but I think it sounds fine.

the "press a+b' screen, yes. i'd sing it to you, but all i can do here is, "duh duh duh do do duhhhhhhh". the 'duhhhhhh' being the problem.

and yeah, the trumpet player is always right. what am i thinking!

It's not THAT bad, but if you're used to hearing a lot of really in tune stuff all day, then it would stick out like a sore thumb. Random notes in movie scores always stick punch me in the face with bad intonation.

I'm far from pitch perfect, but the time I spent paying attention in HS choirs told me something was wrong there. I feel like it's something more than the trumpet tho. Or is it just that with the trumpet being flat, that the rest of the chord sounds garbled?

I think the trumpet is actually sharp and the rest seems flat in relation.
