i was actually really disappointed that there were no special attacks in this game like in double dash. the game is pretty good. the only down parts are that there are no special attacks and there is no grand prix mode with multi player. what do you guys think?mmrsoxnation5I'm glad they took the specials out because it would be annoying learning each character's items and stuff, I just want it simple. And the grand prix thing doesn't bug me. I'm not disappointed.
Nah. They added every single thing I ever wanted in a Mario Kart game in this one.
I was willing to freeze myself (like Cartman from south park trying to get his Wii) to get MKWii after seeing it at E3.
And, I saw Brawl and wasnt so pumped.
And in the level Wario's Gold Mine:
Online you already get hit off the edge 5000 time, with attacks it would happen more.
vs in grand prix mode would have been nice. An option for time limit or kills in battle mode would have been nice as well. It is simple to add these things and they should be in there. There have been numerous MK games now. Take the best from all instead of cutting things out.
To be honest, I couldnt care less about the problems in battle mode and all that team playing stuff. Never cared for it at all, which is probably a major sin ;)
I am, however, disappointed with the lack of multiplayer in grand prix. Mario Kart was, and always will be, a thing me and my lil sister share, and we always tackled grand prix together, as a team, to unlock stuff. Alas, no more.
Still, the online made up for that ;)
meh.
I'm a tad bothered by the removal of multiplayer Grand Prix.
But splitscreen Online makes up for that, in a way
All in all, it's not only the Wii's best racing game to date
But on of the best overall Wii games to date
Putting it in league with Brawl and Galaxy
Case in point,
It's pretty awesome.
Far from a disappointment!! The online component is spot on! I only saw a couple seconds of lag after playing 10+ matches. The single player mode is fun as well, I love the new courses and unlocking new characters and karts. Even the wheel impressed me! I'd say SSBB's online component is a total disappointment. It's such a smooth way to keep playing online, with not a whole lot of waiting like SSBB.
I LOVE THIS GAME!
The fact that they took out the multiplayer grand prix makes this a huge disapointment! That was a solid element that I expected to be kept. For that reason alone I may get rid of the game.omidtenor
Its silly to get rid of the game for that one reason. Sure, its a disappointment, but should be a minor one; the online play more than makes up for it, and you can always just take a pal through that. Its much more interesting, because human players are infinitely less predictable than the frustrating CPU ones.

Be that as it may, I was looking forward to a co-op campaign type action with this game, in that two people could work together to unlock courses and defeat the computer. My fondest memories of the Mario Kart Legacy are defeating the computer with my little brother. One person goes in kamikaze style and takes out the computer, and the other person races ahead to victory. The online multiplayer is nice of course, but personally I was looking forward to the joy of cooperative racing to advance and unlock features of this game. It's just not the same to beat the game on one player, then go through and play the multiplayer with a friend. It is far more gratifying to defeat the computer the first time with a buddy and celebrate winning together in my humble opinion.

I completely and utterly understand where you are coming from, because it was the same for me. Mario Kart was a thing me and my little sis beat together as a team, and I was peeved at first when we had to take it in turns to unlock all of the goodies.
Trust me, though, just stick with the game. Its an annoying oversight, of course, and a bit of a kick to the face. But you and your bro will still find fun with this game.
Just keep at it. If you still hate it after a while, get rid then ;)

That is sound advice. I appreciate it! I'll give it a try and keep an open mind about it. Thanks.
I know I am placing a heavy amount of weight on the fact there is no multplayer grand prix in my evaluation of this game, but it's good to know that others think this is a flaw in the design, albeit a small one in some opinions. It seems like such an easy thing for Nintendo to have left included in the game. I'm just confused why they would change that. I've been a lurker on these forums for a while now, but this was an issue that I felt strong enough to voice my opinion on, so at least it got me involved in the forums I suppose!

So am I. It really doesn't make any sense. I was expected four-player GP mode in this edition, something I always wished was in the N64 game.
But like I said in a different thread, what's done is done and you have to make the most of what you've got. With the way Versus is set up, you can still have plenty of fun with local multiplayer in GP-styIe races. You just can't unlock anything that way.

Definitely! It's always good to have more level-headed people here. :)

yea.. I was looking forward to do the same with my lil sis (well no so lil anymore, but still 6 years younger :P ) BUt oh well...
AT least Jordan have explain to me in some other thread, that we would be able to at least play co-op even if is not for the prizes...
(btw: I think that you guys/gals would have to make a stickie MK, at least about the "what I do not like about MK" )
