OK. I've won (60pts - won all four races) each of the 50cc Cups playing as my Mii. However, I'm still only an "A" on the 50cc Lightning Cup, despite having gotten 60pts on it twice now. All of the other 50cc Cups are 1 or 2 stars.

How do I get the star ranking on the Lightning Cup so I can unlock some stuff???

Dont get hit by items.. remain in 1st.. and beat the 2nd place by more than you have.

It doesnt revolve what place you come in necessarily. Drive well, dodge items when you can, and never never never fall off the track. I had 3 1st's and one 2nd place finish in one of the 100cc cups and got a one star ranking.

Yeah the important thing is how well you drive. I got 60 points once but only a C rating and another I had 50-something and 2 stars. It really comes down to the quality of your driving : never go off-track, try not to hit walls and items (bananas and shells and stuff). You can get up to three stars (I never had, personnally).

Use a bike and get ahead of the other racers by like 10 seconds or so. I once finished 3 courses on 1st place, and the last one 5th, and I still got a Star since I was doing superb in the first three. The secret to getting a Star is to be in 1st place + be way ahead of the others.

It is a shame that the instruction manual does not explain what the ranking mean and what players need to do to improve their rank. I agree that rank is to do with driving skills.

If players are really good in Mario Kart Wii, no only they can finish first often, but they know how not to hit walls and items. It gets difficult in the higher engine classes (100cc, 150cc, and Mirror) because the increased speed of the karts and bikes, the handling rating of the characters, and the increased intelligence of the CPU racers. I personally had problems getting a star rank in the latter 150cc cups (Star, Special, Leaf, and Lightning).

Depending on what will be these two factors:

  • Lap Times and Overall Racetime
  • 1st in all races

I don't really care at the moment of my star rating but i will when i wanna unlocked everyone :)
