What if you had a steering wheel attachment like this one http://wiimedia.ign.com/wii/image/article/731/731777/gt-pro-series-20060908114711546.jpg ? And of course the wiimote goes in the open space. And I think that nintendo should include something like this if they release a Mario Kart for the wii just like other racing games have done.

i agree that the motion control steering like in excite truck should not be used in mario kart, however, i think it worked in excite truck becuase of what they were trying to do with that game.

I love the motion sensing steering.   It was hard in excite truck because thats just a hard game.  I've tried it in monster truck 4x4, sonic, and tony hawk's downhill jam, and it works great in all of those games.  I personally will be dissapointed not to have it in the new mario kart. I think Exite Truck would have been just a generic racing game if it wasn't for the tilt steering and the ability to tilt the remote to control the tires when you land and give you that extra boost.

Wow, I can understand motion-sensing being a tad imprecise at times, but a lot of time, it's what gives wii racing games, particulary excite truck, it's own flavour and enjoyment. Yes there's a learning curve, but the controls DO work.

The only game motion-sensing doesn't work on would be Brawl. But every other Nintendo game could incoporate motion-sensing with proper justice.

Try Need for Speed: Carbon. It's probably the best NFS game out there, and the controls definately contribute to that opinion. I'd be quite disappointed if the inevitable Mario Kart Wii game didn't perform in such a manner.

I like how people complain about Nintendo not wanting to put motion control in Brawl, that's what the direcor hinted at, yet it is people, not Nintendo, that does not want it in Mario Kart Wii.

The controls will work great for Mario Kart Wii.  Just like most peoples arguments about it being stupid not putting motion sensing in Brawl, which I disagree, it would be stupid to not put motion controls in Mario Kart Wii.  I don't think so for Brawl cause to much is going on.  They can make it optional for the people that don't like change, as long as they don't skimp out on it.

Steering - nunchuck joystick

Accelerate - A

Brake - down on control pad

Drift - nunchuck Z

Aim for items - pointer

Use items - B

i think that would be a good control scheme. who agrees?

I think the controlls for Excite Truck are awsome but Mario Kart deffintly needs something else...

If possible I would like the motion senssing but due to a higher amount of needed buttons (or wii-movements) just the remote would limit the game.

So ya... Stear nunchunk and aim wii-mote sounds good... to bad it sounds like a shooter though.

The whole game would work fine with just the Wii mote. The game is so simple, it demands the use of just the wiimote! I'd be confused if it required anymore... D-Pad Up - Accelerate. D-Pad Down - Brake. 1 - Shoot. 2 - Hop. Twist to steer. Easy as pienuts!

I like the pointer idea for shells, but it would be better to have multiple control styles - pointer + nunchuck steering ro excite truck controls.

Steer the Kart with the nunckuck, use the Wiimote as a Accellerator and Brakes by pulling it backwards, or forwards. How the hell is that f'ed up? :|. I think somebody doesn't know how this would be a good idea if you people here don't want to turn the controller sideways...:|

there should be a NON snaking option in online games... i don't think it's unfair, it's just not much fun too play games this way. It's more fun to win by the normal game elements.

You people blow this snaking bs out of proportion. It's like saying you shouldn't be allowed to headshot in a fps cause it gives an unfair advantage.

i want a nunchuck and a Wiimote combo for mario kart, it just feels more right, but steering won't be that bad IMO, i played sonic and the secret rings and while the gameplay mechanics were a bit broken (the 1 button never stops on time, making a backwards motion too much will ultimately lead for him to forward again, no control over his speed which results a REALLY slow start etc.), but the steering motion was percise, i felt like i was in complete control over the game and i wouldn't be disappointed if mario plays out that way.

First, I think Excite Truck controls excellently. Second, if a game really is incompatible with motion control, even Mario Kart, then Nintendo shouldn't make it for the Wii.

I like the idea too, but I do understand the whole "holding the thing up for hours" problem. What would be cool would be a *console* steering wheel that the Wii remote would fit into. In baseball you want a free and clear control to use as a bat, but none of us drive with a disembodied steering wheel! David V .

I completely disagree with you. I think the controls for excite truck were really fun. I would be disappointed if the wii didn't include the motion controls for super mario cart.

imho I have felt that if anything the wii controls are too acurate. I prefer them over a d- pad anyday.

However, It would be nice it if they would allow you the option to choose the d-pad controler over the wiimote. It is always nice to have options.

it would be fun if you steered with the nunchuck. and used the remote for weapons. point and shoot style.
