Does it feel like every time you get into first place you get knocked back with a blue shell? or anytime you are just out of reach of first place and all you need is someone to get a blue shell to take out the leader, the whole race, it never comes? and when im also in first place the second place racer gets an uncanie ammount of red shells and you get nothing but bananas and blocks when your in second? the only time i can win a race is when im far enough ahead to survive at least 2 blue shells and still be ahead. im used to it, this happens to me all the damn time, almost enough for me to throw mario kart out the window. the mario kart gods must be angery with me.
Mario Kart Wii is a horribly unbalanced mess. You have to learn how to exploits it's various and glaring flaws to your advantage to stay competitive, though by my estimation, that's just no fun.
The online is hard to master, but there are many tricks you can use to take advantage of the mechanics. I suggest you check out a FAQ or guide.meetroid8

if you are in first you should be able to get far enough ahead that it doesn't matter when you get blue shelled. it's 2nd and 3rd that are hard to keep. trying to maintain 9999, on the other hand, can be quite maddening.

I rarely have problems online when doing random matches probably cause i'm really skilled and am usually so far ahead by the final lap it'd take several blue shells to cause a dent. But once in awhile I do have trouble.
Yeah mario kart wii isn't that fun for some reason stupid toad always goes for me. One time I was in last and toad just stopped , got behind me and used a bullit bill on me.
The game is truly awful on the higher levels. Its one thing to get more difficult and another to be constantly pounded by the CPU. Still its a great multiplayer game and one of the best online game(when your not stuck with cheaters/hackers) so I'll give it that much.

If you lose at Mario Kart then you just don't have the skill level to win. You have a choice, either take the time to study this game and develop your MK skills or keep losing.

Honestly i liked Double Dash a lot better than MKWii.
The items were cooler and there were more of them. Not to say that the game was more balanced, but it had more variety. Just my opinion, kinda off topic....

really i have no advice to give. evetually i just gave up, and spent every race camping at the finish line and ramming the leader with a star or bullet bill during the final stretch. Me and my friends had a great laugh doing that.

haha yea. but i mean...seriously...if this game DIDN'T have the ranking scores and points, i can pretty much agree that most people wouldn't become so upset if they lose. kids just get too obsessed with thoserankings and trying to get a "highscore" and like i said....crap their pants if they get 2nd place and lose 5 points.
why do people get so proud when they reach 9999 points anyway? was that their ultimate goal in life? what are you gonna do now that you reached 9999? go to disneyland?
like i said just saying this game would be a lot more enjoyable if they didnt have the ranking system in the first place. people would be more focused on being competative and having fun rather than being competative and having spaz attacks.
I like MK Wii..though not enough I guess to play it often anymore but that blue shell is just a stupid,stupid item. Every thing about it just doesn't make sense to me.
-usually obtained by one of the stragglers, hitting first player most of the time is pretty much irrelevant to them anyway
-it's not even an exciting item to recieve.

-the tactic of slowing down in hopes of taking others or holding a shroom (even though your just gonna get hit with a red shell now instead) are both BS.
Thinking about it now that single item is pretty much the only reason for all discontent I have with the game.
Online multiplayer isn't difficult at all. I just stopped playing worldwide games and just play continental games. Haven't encountered any hackers yet, knock on wood.
