I just had this twisted idea of a mario mmorpg, complete with cliches from other mmorpgs.

1st: Choose a race, there are 2 oposing sides, each one has 4 races:

Mushroom Kingdom:

mushroom person, human, those cubist people from super paper mario and yoshi

Koopa:

koopatroopa, dry bones, goomba and shyguy

2nd: Choose a job

Guard: uses weapons and has alot of defence

Plumber: Jumps really high, can throw fireballs (only available to mushroom kingdom faction)

Hammerbro: high evasiveness, throws things at enemies

Bullet bill: carries a cannon which uses to fire itself or other objects at enemies

Magi: uses magic (only available to koopa faction)

smashbro: depends on items and phisical attacks

Lakitu: can capture enemies and use them in battle ala pokemon

Miyi: the GMs of mario mmorpg, they all look like shigeru miyamoto (oly available to nintendo personel)

3rd: The gameworld

The gameworld will be composed of areas seen in super mario rpg and the paper mario series.

4th: Gameplay

Levelcap: 99

Combat: real time, like an action game

PvP: the whole gameworld is a pvp area, you can only fight with the opposing faction or challenge people in your faction to fight.

Platforming: platforming is heavily used, enless pits exist in the world, aswell as water areas.

Bosses: There are bosses in the game and they are balanced for every player so that they can't beat them alone. There is also competition between factions if they are fighting against the same boss, the boss won't die unless only one faction is fighting it. (PvP FTW)

What do you think? yay or nay?

i dont think it will work with mario, maybe zelda. zelda will make more scence since it s a fantasy and most MMORPG are fantasy based, however iam not too sure how it will be one on the wii with friends codes and everything, plus a keybord will have to be relesed for the wii

This idea is just Mario + WoW...

Other things wrong:

-KoopaTroopa is a person, the race would be Koopa.

-Shy Guys don't work for one side.

-Bullet Bill Class sounds Dodgey

Overall this idea is not thoguht out and extremely dodgey.

No thank you. Mario has had enough branching off into other genres for now. Meanwhile, Zelda has yet to have anything but a pack-in third person shooter and Pokemon is DESTINED to have an MMO. Let mario have a rest, he deserves it.

I love the idea of a mario mmorpg, only because i believe that multiplayer mario games are always a blast and the fact that nintendo has already made some interesting mario rpgs. the question is how will this stand out from other mmorpgs. I love the idea of having an action and platformer based environment, it can be very unique, but it will have to have many other unique twists for it to suit a mmo, or massively multiplayer experience. In my opinion it should be focused on team work, but not in a way that simply makes a monster too powerful to defeat without enough damage, or players...etc. Having the game function with mechanics that build off each other's placement, strategic team based moves and other things that would make players have to work together (think a more dynamic mario party in certain situations) could add an element of change that might push mmos a bit forward. for instance players could leap off of each other, grab each other in the air and throw each other, or ground pound in unison for a powerful earthquake like in new super mario brothers for the wii. Bascially what i am thinking you mean by an action based mmo is a game that builds off of super mario galaxy, but adds new mechanics and a leveling system while focusing on team driven objectives and pvp. There is no reason why this could not be an interesting step forward, but it almost certainly would have to take a radical new approach to the mmorpg genre. For instance if the team fights a giant turtle (generic boss idea) perhaps this turtle boss can be soloed with ranged projectiles by rapidly firing projectiles into the maw of this boss which will push him backwards and flip him over(yoshi's Island). the single player could eventually whittle down the monster and ground pound him while he is knocked over to death. Or the boss could be more easily defeated with team work, allowing players to ground pound together to knock the monster off balance, or to simultaneously fire projectiles and deal extra ground pound damage when the boss is knocked over. To balance this however, the bosses could become more powerful depending on how many players you have in your group (i am assuming that this game would operate in both level based worlds and open worlds, with most bosses being in the level based worlds) . If 4 people were fighting the boss you could have the turtle now spin in a firey circle while its shell does wheelies, or fire fireballs out of its mouth rapidly in order to increase the challenge of the boss... I know my ideas are not very worked out, and that this idea is not fleshed out very much at all, but i do think that aspects of mario could create a great mmo type of game that many could enjoy.

I think it's a terrible idea, Mario isn't fit for it.

I do like the idea of another Mario Rpg.

Zelda imo (in b4 Zelda is ment to be single-player only; First off, not really (see 4 Swords Adventures) and secondly, it could be a spin-off like the MMO Final Fantasy games are (not as crappy tho)).
