Edit: Oh yeah and my answer is Mario for sure... But that may just be that Im anti-Luigi at the moment since I was playing Mario Is Missing yesterday on my NES and it drove me crazy!!!

They both have their respective advantages: Mario has a cape and Luigi has his flying move (I'm thinking in terms of Smash Bros). But in Mario Kart they are like clone characters (one wears green while the other wears red). And if we were talking about Paper Mario, Mario is the one who gets the cool flipping ability while Luigi can jump really high. In the super mario "insert Name here" he is better than Mario because he is faster and jumps higher but he slides more. I don't tend to distinguish between them very often. Well I guess considering that they are twins that explains why they are so similar.
Luigi is better than Mario in every way imo - higher jumping, faster, taller, etc (btw, I'm going by the latest games they've starred in). He's just a bit timid, but when a job needs to get done, he does it. Proof of Luigi's superiority:

i liked luigi from the days of original super mario and mario 3 when he was just the green one, because everyone else picks mario, but when he got these dopey games like luigis mansion, i pitty him. poor luigi.
I gotta go with Luigi, I've loved the guy ever since the NES days. When I was younger and when I played the old NES Mario games, I would always kill Mario so that I could play as Luigi instead. It was with Luigi that I beat all of the NES Mario games for the first time and it was with Luigi that I beat Mario World for the first time. Luigi is my boy and I will stay loyal to him till the end.
YOSHI beats all. but if i hadta choose mario or luigi i'd pick mario cuz he didn't used to be, but now luigi is totolle gay now. nintendo has finally let him come out of the closet, especially with that pink outfit he's got now and the way he says "letza go" at the beginning of a match.
I prefer Luigi in every game that gives me the option to play as him, except for Super Mario Bros.: Lost Levels. Although, the American version of Super Mario Bros. 2 is awesome with Luigi, with his jumping skills.
Luigi's Mansion is also awesome in all aspects, ranging from the gameplay to Luigi's consistent fearful demeanor, which adds a chilling yet humorous atmosphere to the game.
LUIGI THE GREEN WONDER C mon he is awesome and more and more people like luigi Mario is on sooooo many levels over rated so what hes the main character Luigi is by far the most under rated nintendo character of them all he only has 2 games and they both have the same concept Luigi needs to be cut more slack hes Mario younger brother his only brother i mean WARIO has more games than him also Nintendo has been making him dumber and dumber over the years nintendo has been under estimating him LUIGI WILL RISES MOTHER F**KERS

I really dislike the way luigi moves in games like Lost Levels, 3D Land and Galaxy so if not for that, I'd pick him. But he does move like that so therefore Mario.
