Will there be a Mario Party 9 soon? Is it still a legitimate worthwhile purchase?

Mario Party 8 was one of the most disappointing games for me this generation. The motion capabilities were not used well at all and the mini-games really lacked imagination. I would suggest holding out for 9, because for me, 8 was a very bad game.

It's really bad alone (The other Mario Party's weren't bad), but with people, it's good.

One of the worst Mario Party's out there, but still okay.

Mario party 8 is fun for parties and playing with casual people. The game was pretty much a gamecube game that was switched over to Wii late in its life span so the motion controls are somewhat minimal and it doesn't even run in widescreen. It's still worth getting if you need an easy to play party game. Mario party 9 hasn't been announced yet so who knows how long it'll be til its out. You could always try the Gamecube Mario parties (4-7) if you have enough Gamecube controllers, they were a bit better than 8.

If you're goint to play it alone (Mario Party 8 ), better not take it, it's damn boring and doesn't worth the money. Can't talk about multiplayer since I have only one Wiimote, and there's no support for Classic Controller or GCN Controller (which I own but can't use) nor online multiplayer, I think those are strong cons.

*shrug* I enjoyed Mario Party 8. My ex and I played it a lot when we were still together, and we had a lot of parties, with the Wii and oftentimes Mario Party 8 as the focus of them. Provided some awesome times.

The most dissapointing game I've also bought for the system. It's only bareable while playing with 3 others and even still 10 turns seems too long. The biggest disapointment for me besides the completly satisfactory mini-games is the maps. Out of the stock maps the dk one is the only one I can play and it still isn't all that great. I want mario party 1 & 2 for the VC that would be a way better option.

Not worth it. Get Mario Party 7 for Gamecube instead! It has better minigames and has a 8 Player mode.
