So ever since I bought Mario Strikers it has lagged a lot online (Connection between 2-3 stars most of the time). To give a rough idea of how laggy it is the 3 second timer at the start takes about 4-5 seconds to finish. Every second or so there is a lag spike of equal length.

This makes the game totally unplayable online. I have tried several matches but all of them lagged, I have played friends who live nearby and even they lag!

However, when I go to a speed test website and run it in the internet browser of my Wii, I find my ping is 59ms ,my upload is 30KBps, and my download is 100KBps (I'm on 2Mb broadband but that doesn't really matter, the big point is the latency).

Now I ran that test ON MY WII, not my PC. So why on earth is strikers so laggy? My Wii is connected Wirelessly to a router but I've manually given it an IP address etc etc.

If anyone can help I'd be happy to listen :) I want to play strikers online really badly!

it does have pretty much laggy online but some of it might have to do with you. if you compare gh3 to strikers you will see a huge difference. oh and welcome to gamespot

That's odd. I don't really know the solution.

The game works fine for me though but I have different speed test results. My ping is about 80ms, my upload speed is about 40, and my download is about 450.

Try another router if you have one or move your Wii/router closer to each other.

That was so helpful =/

Dark_Link my router is already right next to my Wii (well about a meter away) and I don't really want to shell out on a new router :( I'll guess I'll wait for a different online game to come out or borrow a mates and see if that lags.

The nearest speed test hub to me on http://www.speedtest.net/ which is Maidstone, UK, roughly 150 miles from me.

my internet on the wii works fine/fast. if i were to start a game of strikers, i'd have a four star connection. however, every game for every system that i ever try to play online, i lose the connection eveey five mintues or so. I've come to the conclusion that my router disconects every five minutes. does any one know why, or how to fix this?

I think it's because it's very populated. IGN ran their tests before it came out and found that it was very stable. BWii is probably not nearly as popular and I've encountered little to no lag. Brawl will be a mess.

Yes, alot. It is a very laggy game and I don't think you can stop it, just got to deal with it. :\

But none of my mates have this problem :(

I don't think player base should affect it as each player is directly connecting to the other (I would imagine) I don't nintendo have programmed it so that all games are hosted on a Ninty Server.

By the way, the channel trick (1 or 12) what does that actually do? Is it just those because they are usually free channels or are they the Wiis "favourites"? I have my router on channel 2 atm but I'm pretty sure I've tried it on 1 before to no avail.

I think it is because it avoids common frequencies from other electronic devices. (Don't ask, im not sure)

Another thing you should try is updating your router's firmware

I guess I'll have to rent another online game or something to test it out.

I *think* it's just strikers because I can user internet channel on YouTube etc just fine, as well as shop, news, and voting channels.
