Mario Tennis Open: Do you plan on getting this game and plan on playing online

The wait is finally over

After a 8-year hiatus, the best Mario Sports series returns and Debuts on the Nintendo 3DS. For the first time ever, players can play Tennis with their favorite Mario characters online.

to help celebrate the game's release and me beating all 8 tournament cups with all 18 characters Singles and Doubles in the Wii verison of Mario Power Tennis, will you be picking up a copy of the 3DS game Mario Tennis Open. If so, will you be playing the game online in Singles and/or Doubles matches. You can put it in your comment below or pick an answer in the poll.

I don't plan on getting it. The idea of a tennis game without the Wii remote seems awkward now.

I will definitely be getting this for online mode. I would have been really excited about offline had they made it an RPG like the last portable Mario Tennis.GrrrlGamer78

I really want to, but I don't think I'll have the time to really enjoy with Xenoblade to play still and Radiant Historia waiting for me right after that, and then Pokemon Conquest is coming out mid June and I'm not sure if I'll have the time or willingness to fork over $40 for it. I definitely loved the N64 Mario Tennis though, and I would love to have another game like it.

If the online is good, then im in! I love playing online with my 3DS. Portable + Online Gaming = Endless fun on the go!

I didn't know it was going to be online. Thats nice. I would probably try out both singles and doubles. Now all Nintendo needs to do is make a Mario Golf on the 3DS.

It looks good, and I really enjoyed Mario Tennis on the N64, missed out on Mario Power Tennis unfortunately, but this one looks great, so I'll be getting it. Playing online? Doubt it.

Will be getting it eventually even through I kind of disappointed that the RPG stuff that are in the previous handheld MT games aren't in this one.

I won't get it right away. I have way too many games in my backlog.

only sport i like is basketball and even then...it needs to be offcial teams not mario.

The only basketball game I have ever played (except the bball modes in sports resort!) is NBA jam on the SNES. I loved that because of all the cheat codes you could use to play as celebs, or bill and hillary clinton! I have been meaning to check out the new NBA jam for the wii from a couple years back. Looked like it would bring back some fun memories!

I don't play sports games either, outside of mario games! and mario tennis is usually a great game, I'm really looking forward to it. I'm not sure about the online. I will try it out for sure, but I don't know anyone else in real life who plays video games, yet alone has a 3DS. So it depends on how much I play online. If I go and everyone just kills me, I wont be on long! Sucks being in your 30s and the only one you know who keeps up with video games.

32 and have no hardcore gamer friends. I got a few that play the occasional sport game or CoD/BF3, but thats it. It really sucks, but thats why I like playing online alot, cuz I get a similar interaction with gamers. Ive thought about going to one of the streetpass meetings, but the kids look like a bunch of nerds. I dont look down on nerds, but I just cant identify with them except for video games. I would like to play in a Mario 7 tourney though.

I'll have to skip this, too big backlog, low $$$(which is also in reserve for Luig's mansion 2, paper mario 3ds, animal crossing 3ds, pokemon conquest, pokemon b/w 2, halo 4, steam sales yea.....)YoshiYogurt

yea...only basketball game i have is nba jam on fire edition...much improved from the 1st version on wii..
but i never play it anymore ...only like the first week... the AI is sooo freakin cheap.

when i was young i tried nba jam in the arcade...and bill lambeers basketball, and double dribble...i think thats all.

EDGE gave it a 7 (which is good for them)

but Nintendo Power gave it a 7 as well. I'm gonna wait for more reviews to see if I'll fufill my pre-order or not

Those arent bad scores, but they were not the scores I was expecting, especially from Nintendo Power. I figured they would give any decent Nintendo first party game a 9, or atleast an 8. The 7 from Nintendo Power suggest the game really is like a 5 or a 6. I hope not, as Im really looking forward to online play.

Eh, those games usually don't feel like Nintendo's best efforts, will wait for reviews.

In the nutshell, NP review was easy to get into, good online, but the SP was lacking. Honestly I glad Nintendo has step up with online gaming, but I not too happy that with the case of this and MK7 that they're taking a step back with the appeal of SP.
