Mario vs Zelda which is the better series

Everytime a new Nintendo system launchs fans eagerly await the likes of Mario and Zelda probably the 2 biggest franchise in gaming. Both have been going for over 25 years and have some of the best games the world has ever seen but which series would you say is the best.

As a platforming fanatic I am partial to Mario and voted for him but both series are phenomenal. Mario is like the work horse of Nintendo and Zelda is like the crown jewel.

My heart says Mario but my head says Zelda.

Zelda easily.

I wanna say Zelda.. But tbh if we are going by the last 10 years. Not one Zelda game is nearly as good as Mario galaxy 1 & 2.. Maybe Windwaker actually comes pretty close, but those games blow the last two zeldas out of the water. And Mario 3D Land blows the DS Zelda games out of the water as well.

Zelda just has not been very good lately. Mario has been.

But Zelda still stays on top. Because thats how good A Link to the Past, Ocarina of Time, and Majora's Mask are. But thats not going to last forever. One More Mario game on the level of those galaxy games and I think mario is overall the better series. Zelda has been too mediocre for too long now.

I love them both to death, but Zelda just holds the overall crown for my all time favorite series. The only game I can honestly say I don't enjoy is the second one. Other than that, I love them all. (To varying degrees of course.)

The two are hardly comparable but, for the sake of answering the question, Zelda is way ahead of Mario for me personally.

I'd take Mario but they share nothing in common. Both are great series.

I never was that big of Zelda fan tbh.

I think the most creativity and game design genious Nintendo has was poured in the "core" Super Mario series (sans the NSMB series).

But I like both.

Might as well place my vote and Mario just. I think the series has had more groundbreaking and fun titles.

I can appreciate mario's quality, but I just don't enjoy it; everything is just too basic and divided.
