Here's his editorial that launched yesterday about nintendo's seemingly lack of hype for mp3.

And if no one here knew it already. the next morning nintendo realeased a mp3 preview channel in the wii chop channel for free!.

Nintendo not hypeing? i think they are just getting started...

I still agree with Matt. The preview channel is for people who already are planning to get the game. They still need to market the game outside of the channel to get the more mainstream attention of the game. The preview channel is nice, but it isn't enough. Nintendo still needs to advertise the game more.

Yeah I still agree with Matt. For the casual Wii gamers and/or people that don't have the internet or go online, there is no real hype at all (except for some mags). Seeing how this is a big game for the Wii in more ways then one (Major franchise, some of the best Wii graphics so far, a great First person control system) I'd have thought by now there should have been some TV spots. I know it's still got some time to go but it helps to get the message across early. I don't currently plan on getting this game but this could be a huge oppurtunity for Nintendo if they start with some heavy mainstream hype.

Advertising the game through the Wii itself is very weak advertising. You need television adds, magazine adds, video game website adds, etc.

nintendo still needs to hype this game up more. This game should be just as hyped as halo 3 cuz its probly a better game than it.

Every single Wii owners got a blinking light just for Metroid. I think of my two friends with this, them downloading it and being amazed. It does need a commercial though.

No, he is right. Nintendo needs to hype this game more. As the person above said, the channel isn't targeting people without Wiis. We are about 3 weeks away from launch, and I've barely seen any advertisement for this game. We are at the end of a great trilogy, and it's said that MP3 will be outsold by Mario Party 8. Oh well, hopefully by next week we might get an explosion of hype.

i wish their was more hype but theirs hype and then theirs over-hype, Halo is an example of over-hype, all Nintendo needs to do is hype it up for the next 3 weeks without over doing it. and besides i don't think this game needs to be marketed to the casual gamer and i think that is what Nintendo is thinking.

well i did say that I think nintnedo may be getting started with their advertising.and wouldn't it make sense to advertise the hardcore gamesto the hardcore? that's what the wii channel was for: people who already have wiis most likely know about mp3. i bet anything their will be some form of tv/magazine add sometime in the next 2 and a half weeks...

Well, August is the "Month of Metroid" with 3 Metroid releases (Metroid [nes], Super Metroid [snes], and Metroid Prime 3 [wii]). Plus the previews are a nice little touch. Still, Nintendo could be doing a lot better, like commericals or a demo or something. Oh well, the game comes out soon enough, and a lot of Wii owners will be buying it, so what more does Nintendo have to do? It's one of the BIG THREE for heaven's sakes!

I remember that commercial for Metroid Prime 2 with the blonde woman walking down a hallway and the CGI suit kind of morphing over her. Basically it was a clever and flashy ad that I think MP3 needs as well. There is still time though for that.

Plus, the videos on the Matroid channel are terribly compressed making for a lackluster showing of what this game is about. Compare to XBOX Live which releases a majority of their preview vids in hd in addition to sd. Options.

One could argue these preview vids actually hurt any MP3 hype, and can come off as a major turn-off to curious Wii owners who downloaded it. Not only does it stutter with the buffering, but the horrible compression makes the game look downright ugly at times when we know it is not.

He's still right... A crappy-quality video to already Wii owners isn't going to attract more Wii owners.

Most of these posts mock the TC but if you think about it, this was just the first drop in a flash flood of marketing that Nintendo has started for the next couple of weeks to get everyone excited about MP3. Wait another week and then you can hopefully take your feet out of your mouths.
