I've been asking myself of that as of late. There's been a lot of excitement for this title, but there's this title may go down the plughole like Vanguard. Here aremy reasons:
- 32 online mutliplayer - there HAS to be a catch.Whether it be the size of the environments, the graphics/frame rate, etc. Madden 08 can't even run 100% smooth in its online mode (and right nowthere's enough trouble getting on as I've heard the servers can be down). I'm doubting the online skills of EA, but how much can Wii take?
- On-rails mode - again, this sounds like a tacked on mode to get the 'most' out of the zapper. Call me pesimistic, but I call it fun for 10 minutes. After playing the main campaign and multiplayer, why the hell would I play a simplified, less interactive/involved mode? It's not even online.
- Controls - Vanguard was critisiced for its loose control scheme and that it had a worse campaign than Call of Duty 3. In that interview, not once did they mention that they were tightening up the control scheme over the last installment. That has me worried considering it's also EA. The master of 'I can't be bothered' problems, along with Ubisoft (for Wii).
- Vanguard wasn't received particularly well by the media. What improvements in the single player have they made? I want to know why this game is so much better than the last - because right now, I see yet another WWII shooter.
I can't ignore the positives though and the fact that I could be on the fence for nothing. Shotgunning where you have to 'pump' the nunchuck to reloadsounds awesome and the fact that they've had 32 online matches already in their offices means it truly is up and running. The game has a smooth polished look, but I hope that they're not touched-up screens. I need video footage or better-yet,footage ofsomeone playing the game so I know how the controls are and such. Please me EA, you've got a potential winner on your hands. But then again, I said the same thing about Red Steel.....(which was a good game, but nowhere near the calibre it was hyped to be).....
