I think people exaggerate when they say that Megaman 9 is ridiculously hard. I have played the game for about 3 hours today and only have 1 boss left to beat on the screen. Sure I died alot...but all you need for this game really is patience and using the right ability at the right time (in certain situations during the stage itself and the boss fight). Maybe it's also that I have been playing Megaman games for years. But come on, this game is well balanced, and requires you to use skill, but it's not all that hard. I think that all games should bring out the skill in a player the way that this game does.

Bringing out the skill in a player and testing it is what makes it difficult.

The fact that you die a lot means that you're having some difficulty. Trying not to die at all is a true challenge.

I agree that Mega Man 9 is not as hard as everyone says. At first it was hard just because I had never played a Mega Man game before and I had to get used to the playstyle, but now I can pass the levels with ease.

If you beat the bosses in the "correct" order then yes, it's ridiculously easy. Try beating all the bosses with the original weapon and then tell me it's not hard.

Figuring out the order is the hardest part of the game because surprisingly they aren't always as obvious as they should be.

Thats what everyone means by difficult, you constantly die, you get need quick reflexes and a considerable amount of skill. and to the guy who says now its easy. Duh that's how all megaman games work, once you've gone through once, done all the trail and error, figured out the boss patterns and such. You can just breeze through the game in less than a half hour. Thats the way it is for every megaman game.

I did that. 360 Achievement for beating all the bosses with main weapon, the game is still easy.

You can't claim the game lacks difficulty unless you can provide us with a speedrun video. The current world record is somewhere around 20 minutes, IIRC. Check the Speed Demos Archive website, there's a single-segment video of someone performing this feat.

Oh, and no dying allowed. Sorry, that's how speed runs go.

Jesus Christ people are taking me to seriously (no offense). I'm not claiming to be a Megaman GOD here...I'm just saying the game is the same difficulty that Megaman has always been, and people are too quick to yell out "this game is too hard i'm gonna go cry and give up boo hoo".

Yeah. I do agree with this. Playing Megaman 9 normally, it's difficulty is quite the same as other Megaman games. When I was a kid, I did struggle on all of the other Megaman games the first time through, but after playing them for all of these years, they aren't so difficult. The games may throw a few surprises your way, which may trip you for a little bit, but after you understand the levels and bosses, it's quite simple.

It's very hard for me, but that doesn't make it a bad game at all.

Overall Megaman 9 is a hard game, it wasn't built to be an easy 2D game. I've beat all of the Call of Duty games from 1 to 4 in Veteran (5 sucks and I'm not buying it), and I can say those are definitely up there in the hardest games to beat.

The hardest games in gaming out now are the Ninja Gaiden games. I rented the second one and it drove me nuts, I'm glad I didn't buy it.

Dieing can be approved of in a speed run,but it has to be a fairly small number, and also depends on the length of the speed run,if it's a single-segment,and how much time is lost (or saved, respectively) or what mistakes are done.I recall the previous record holder for Mega Man 2 having a death in it,but it was approved of regardless. Also, link to the Mega Man 9 speed run for the lazy.Seen it a couple times myself, still can't believe some of the tactics used.
