Actually, the funny thing is you can but you can't. You see, you can't use the SD slot on the front at all, however Nintendo did make a SD-to-GCN memory card adapter, which was compatible with certain games. The trouble is that Nintendo only sold this accessory in Japan.

Anywho... for simplicity's sake, the answer is No like Action_Player said.
