Somebody (probably in Japan) should make a MG game for DS. I mean they've done it on iPhone, PSP, GBC and they've already made Splinter Cell (not perfect but it's been attempted) on DS what's wrong with Metal Gear on DS?

"Somebody?"
Only Konami is able to make Metal Gear games. I hope they don't. As much as the series is one of the best of all time, it would probably be too watered down in the conversion. Besides Sony needs to keep Metal Gear games as their exclusives (Exception of that crappy iPhone game).
It would be ccol if Konami did this for the DS.They did greta work for the PSP.MG Acid and Acid2 had a nice play to them as did the Graphic Novels and Spec OPs.At one time NIntendo was very wary about releasing an "M" rated title. That is not so much the case with the DS. So now is a good time for MG to appear.
The creator of the series should also be involved.he has brought much to the storyline and gameplay so far.
I wish they would, even remakes of the first two would be awesome as long as there still 2D. Since i don't think 3D models are the DS's forte (and they dont really look that good sometimes for the DS) a fully 2D game like the originals with all new artwork would be the best way to go IMO.
If Metal Gear has been on Gamecube, Xbox and the iPhone then a DS version has a chance of making it. Of course there's probably a better chance we're seeing a 360 version but then again you never know."Somebody?"

It's too far from what the series was at this point. I'd only want it in the DS if it was a port of the original MSX games, but I'd only want that so I could play them anywhere.

I thought the next Metal Gear game is planned to be cross platform.
Also I loved the original Metal Gear on NES. I dont see how you couldn't do a beefed up version of that and have 3d environments like GTA did.
if you want to play it on a handheld, you can jump ship an play it on the psp, they have portable ops and peace walker is coming up.
will they ever make one for the ds? who knows?(i would doubt it personally)if they did it would probably be a spin off like the Acid ones
The DS has pretty good 3D though. Mario 64 DS and Starfox Command look pretty good. I'm surprised more 3D games aren't on the system, although my love for the old-style 2D still remains.
it would fine in 2d or 3d on DS honestly, but konami kinda of lets Kojima run that IP so it doesn't seem like he'd do it
and the Iphone game wasn't great but wasn't that bad, plus the PSP versions are pretty watered down with the comic book cutscenes in comparison to 3 and 4.
maybe in the future coz its now a multiplatform IP

but since its Metal Gear SOLID, that means it has something to do with SOLID snake, but you play as Raiden, a good friend of Solid Snake

Yea its called metal gear solid rising i think. Meh i dont know that much about their little policy thing, they might aswell just put all the other metal gears on multiplatform, after all, theres a lot of previous metal gear that appeared on xbox and pc. Nintendo too. They made MGS on PS1 and DS is as powerful as the N64 and the DSi is more powerful. The N64 is more powerful then the PS1 so they can easily do it in 3D. Only problem is fitting it in a DS Card.I wish they would, even remakes of the first two would be awesome as long as there still 2D. I honestly think this would work very well, actually. Imagine if Kojima (or a team working with his supervision, if he'd allow that) could distill the series down to its most defining characteristics and provide the DS with a MGS game in its purest form, much like Rockstar did with GTA. I can imagine the game running quite easily on a simplified 3D engine (three-quarter perspective, like Chinatown Wars).
The only problem is that, like Chinatown Wars, it would be an embarrassing commercial failure, since it would be overlooked by the casual crowd and shunned by the hardcore crowd, regardless of how well it was reviewed.
if its Metal Gear _______ than yes it has nothing to do with Solid Snakeactually the solid in metal gear solid stands for the game being in 3d, it also worked along side solid snakes name. "Kojima retitled the game Metal Gear Solid, choosing this over the working title Metal Gear 3. This was due to the fact that he believed that the first two MSX2 games in the series were not very well known. He used the word 'Solid' which was chosen due to the game being the third installment in the series, and because it uses 3D computer graphics"

"Solid" doesn't mean "Solid Snake" or "Big Boss", it marks the transition between 2D and 3D.
