Somebody (probably in Japan) should make a MG game for DS. I mean they've done it on iPhone, PSP, GBC and they've already made Splinter Cell (not perfect but it's been attempted) on DS what's wrong with Metal Gear on DS?

"Somebody?"

Only Konami is able to make Metal Gear games. I hope they don't. As much as the series is one of the best of all time, it would probably be too watered down in the conversion. Besides Sony needs to keep Metal Gear games as their exclusives (Exception of that crappy iPhone game).

It would be ccol if Konami did this for the DS.They did greta work for the PSP.MG Acid and Acid2 had a nice play to them as did the Graphic Novels and Spec OPs.At one time NIntendo was very wary about releasing an "M" rated title.That is not so much the case with the DS. So now is a good time for MG to appear.

The creator of the series should also be involved.he has brought much to the storyline and gameplay so far.

I agree but I don't think it should even try for "good graphics" they should keep it simple and make the game play amazing. It might be cool to see it as an rpg. That would definately change thing up.

I wish they would, even remakes of the first two would be awesome as long as there still 2D. Since i don't think 3D models are the DS's forte (and they dont really look that good sometimes for the DS) a fully 2D game like the originals with all new artwork would be the best way to go IMO.

I think it would bea good idea if it was all 2D, or was 2.5D and used stylized 3D models. It worked on the GB, why not the DS?

If Metal Gear has been on Gamecube, Xbox and the iPhone then a DS version has a chance of making it. Of course there's probably a better chance we're seeing a 360 version but then again you never know.

It's too far from what the series was at this point. I'd only want it in the DS if it was a port of the original MSX games, but I'd only want that so I could play them anywhere.

I was thinking of the MSX games also, since Metal Gear Solid is different from Metal Gear. Keep it 2D and spruce up the graphics with stylus controls and we have a winner! I didn't like the GB version at all, so 2.5D is out of the question for me (or any side scroller).

if you want to play it on a handheld, you can jump ship an play it on the psp, they have portable ops and peace walker is coming up.

will they ever make one for the ds? who knows?(i would doubt it personally)if they did it would probably be a spin off like the Acid ones

The DS has pretty good 3D though. Mario 64 DS and Starfox Command look pretty good. I'm surprised more 3D games aren't on the system, although my love for the old-style 2D still remains.

ok look i maybe a nintendo fan but i also have a psp so i'm kinda even in this battle BUT!!! hell yes it would be AMAZING to see a mg or mgs on ds i would be the first to bloody buy it i mean i had portable ops (obviously on psp) but the point is that it was the worst EVER mgs game i have ever played it really is if snake wasnt in it (and maybe raiden or metal gear i dont know i really didnt get far it was just a waste of time it really is dont buy it) and even my friend who is a BIG ps fan and loves mgs games he said it was a waste so if there is one on ds this will prove whether mgs not only will be better on ds but if it is worth bothering at all to put on a portable console cause atm it really isnt and please dont let it be another remake of mgs1 cause even as a nintendo fan remakes are just too boring after youve played the original then a remake with no difference (although re was good both ds and gc versions) JUST NO MORE REMAKES!!! a new story just for ds would be good like mgs babel on gbc that gaame was too good thats the best protable mgs so far i might go play it now in fact! so yes a mgs on ds please just not a remake!!!

it would fine in 2d or 3d on DS honestly, but konami kinda of lets Kojima run that IP so it doesn't seem like he'd do it

and the Iphone game wasn't great but wasn't that bad, plus the PSP versions are pretty watered down with the comic book cutscenes in comparison to 3 and 4.

maybe in the future coz its now a multiplatform IP

Gohansephiroth

They made MGS on PS1 and DS is as powerful as the N64 and the DSi is more powerful. The N64 is more powerful then the PS1 so they can easily do it in 3D. Only problem is fitting it in a DS Card.

hmm good point with the size thing. they would need to edit some things though, for example the thing where you have to unplug the controllers and that sorta stuff you cant do with a ds. but they could probably improve some other things with the ds's capabilities, like blowing or something.

I wasn't really talking about MGS specifically. I was actually just commenting that Kojima and Konami had MGS in 3D on the PS1 and the DS is more powerful then the PS1.

I honestly think this would work very well, actually. Imagine if Kojima (or a team working with his supervision, if he'd allow that) could distill the series down to its most defining characteristics and provide the DS with a MGS game in its purest form, much like Rockstar did with GTA. I can imagine the game running quite easily on a simplified 3D engine (three-quarter perspective, like Chinatown Wars).

The only problem is that, like Chinatown Wars, it would be an embarrassing commercial failure, since it would be overlooked by the casual crowd and shunned by the hardcore crowd, regardless of how well it was reviewed.

darth-pyschosis

actually the solid in metal gear solid stands for the game being in 3d, it also worked along side solid snakes name. In the statement below from an article it explains this.

"Kojima retitled the game Metal Gear Solid, choosing this over the working title Metal Gear 3. This was due to the fact that he believed that the first two MSX2 games in the series were not very well known. He used the word 'Solid' which was chosen due to the game being the third installment in the series, and because it uses 3D computer graphics"

link : http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metal_Gear_Solid

"Solid" doesn't mean "Solid Snake" or "Big Boss", it marks the transition between 2D and 3D.

MG -> 2D

MGS -> 3D (Solid=3D)

i was pretty sure it was just metal gear rising... and i remember kojima saying "nope, no solid this time" (not with these words, obviously). whatever. back on topic, i still think it's close to impossible that we get a metal gear DS (dual solid? :P). it's not because of system limitations, it's because kojima apparently is not a big fan of nintendo. of course, if he has a bright idea involving metal gear and DS, he'll make it no matter what.
