Well a lot of people say the PS2 version actually looks better then the 3DS re-release. I think this screen is a good comparison between the original and the 3DS game. The 3DS re-release looks like an obvious improvement over the original and I can't wait for it. I think all the original looks better then the remake is stupid, it's just trolls. I know a screen doesn't do justice, but the 3DS version is supposed to looks even better in action, and many people who have played demos or parts of the full game commented on how great the remake looks.

Wow, judging from those screenshots, the 3DS version is the best-looking. Of course, screenshots mean very little in the long-run. We need to see the games actually running before we can form any conclusions.

The color is washed out in the other two and not on the 3DS, which could just be related to how the images were captured. I am confident the 3DS version will look great though and am not terribly worried if it looks a little better or worse than other versions.

Hard to say really, I think once you see the final game running in 3D that will be the defining factor when it comes to the visual presentation. Imagine how The Pain's boss battle will look in 3D.

based off playing the PS2, and collection, and seeing the screen shots of the 3DS verison the collection looks the best, but the small screen makes the 3DS one look good

ya but remember both the PS2 versions and HD collection version images would mostly be on >40 inch screen TV's, these images are about 5 inches, so they would look worse on a TV. The 3DS screen is 3.5 inches so this image should be exactly what it looks like on a 3DS screen, perhaps a little enlarged. Anyways the 3D also is suppose to heavily adds to the game.

Just got the HD Collection, it looks amazing. It's $30 most places now, pretty much makes MGS3D null and void unless you don't have one of those consoles

By those pictures: 3DS>HD>Original. Obviously it will be HD>3DS>Original in motion and by other screenshots though. Although, I'm really diggin' the 3D lately. For example, Resident Evil: Revelations, while it may be subtle, the 3D really adds to the game visually.

The HD version has the best aliasing...but, as previously said, that will stretch out on a standard tv.

The 3DS has the best color depth.

The more I think about this game, the sooner I want a 3DS. All the boss battles will be epic(er) in 3D... I'm still nervous about the overall small screen experience, but I will surely keep a save-spot just before sniping The End.

I really don't like the colors in the 3DS version. Hopefully it won't be quite that drastic in motion.

I hate to disagree, in motion the HD is pretty much the same as the PS2 version but it's upscaled to HD, with better anti-aliasing, but other than that they didn't change really anything the engine. The 3DS version will be a bit less sharp, but it has much deeper colours, more polys, and a lot of textures have been remodeled as demonstrated in the screen, snake's hair and much of the forest has been remodeled and improved. The HD collection is more of a port like RE4 on the HD consoles while the 3DS version is more of a re-release and designed specifically for the 3DS in control and the graphics have been made to take advantage of the 3DS. Also the 3DS apparently really adds to the depth of the game and makes the forest look great.

Except the 3DS version is not just a simple port. For a MGS3 fanatic like me, totally worth having still.

A comparison video would be more accurate, because character models' textures are always what developers find easier to remake.

Have to disagree with you man. The MGS3 HD port has higher framerates than the PS2 version. Pretty noticeable from the beginning.

Ya but the actual graphics is just a port, the 3DS version on the other hand is more of a remake having effects specifically made to take advantage of the 3DS. I wouldn't consider making the frame rate higher huge deal, and the HD version features no graphical effects that the original included.

The ones that look the best in my eyes are the original version (it looks "natural"), and the 3DS version (it doesn't look washed out).

Hideo Kojima said that this game is a total remake, and not just a 3D port of the original:

"Metal Gear Solid creator Hideo Kojima met with press in Japan to promote Metal Gear Solid HD Edition and Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D. The Nintendo 3DS version of Snake Eater comes out on March 8 in Japan.

When Kojima took the stage he said Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D is not a remastered version, its a remake created from scratch and optimized for the 3DS hardware."

snake's tan aside, it looks rather good.
