Which one would prefer on console and handheld? Metorid Prime engine for consoles and Other M engine for handheld or vice versa.i think Metroid is best as a FPS game, look how well the prime series is.Can you imagine playing multiplayer in FPS metorid like Metroid Prime 2 echoes. You earn points to customise your characters with weapons and other things.Other M would have been better if they released it for 3ds insteard of wii.what do you think? Metorid as FPS or Side Scroll 3d like other M?

I enjoyed the Prime games a lot more than Other M or even the most recent crop of 2D handheld metroid games. Having said that, I also loved Shadow Complex and would kill for a version of Metroid that plays like that (so classic controller support and not sideways wiimote).

Personally, I thought the actual gameplay in Other M was perfect (save, perhaps, for the fact that you can't use the nunchuck's analog stick - I think I would've taken out the first-person portions entirely). I'd just have liked it to have more mystery and intrigue in its story than it did.

On the handheld, I think it's rather obvious that a sidescroller like Zero Mission or Fusion is best.

All three styles work for me, side scroller, FPS and 3D. An Other M type I think would be great for the 3DS and if the whole screen in the controller thing is true for Wii 2, then you could do some really interesting things there like all 3.

i did like the style of play other m presented but the prime series acheived the impossible: made me enjoy a FPS. that said, my first metroid game, zero mission, is still my favourite and i really want anoter 2d style game

i like the FPS's, and like the sidescrollers, but i'd leave the FPS away from the handhelds.

Well I certainly enjoyed the Prime games more than Other M, but I'm very willing to give another Other M style game a try.

both. I loved the Prime series...but Other M was also a great action game in the metroid universe. I hope they make a sequel to Other M before we see another FPMetroid.

FPS or sidescroller, Other M a bit iffy for me.

People just call it FPS to save time, you know what he means... No one means COD = Metroid Prime = Bioshock = Halo = Mirror's Edge = Portal 2, but they probably call them FPS just as a general category.

"metroidvania" which is another name for "sidescrolling action adventure". or just plain "open world sidescroller". there is more than one way to define a game. the prime series are FPS's with exploration elements. stop acting as if "FPS" was a derogatory term.

YES, if that is the alternative.

anyway, she wasnt bland she was mysterious. the storytelling in metroid has been minimalist and thats worked. im definately not against exploring samus as a character but the writer of metroid other M clearly didnt understand metroid or the character and just isnt a good storyteller in general.

No, FPS is an action game. Prime is much more adventure than action. It doesn't have exploration elements, exploration is one of the key components of the game. Being in first person \=/ FPS.

I'd prefer to see another Metroid game that's a side scroller, mostly like Other M. However, I'd remove things like a hard mode without upgrades, forced locked doors and telling you exactly where to go and what path to take.

Basically, I want a new Metroid game that's more like Metroid Fusion.

Well the Prime games were vastly supior, but I would not minde a side scrolling game that was done right. Need more of the adventure and solidarity elements.

Metroid Prime hands down. That game launched in 2002 and there is still not another game like it... (other than Prime 2 and 3 of course) I prefer to call it a First Person Adventure game...

Yeah, that's another instance of it.

Personally if I were a writer I'd find it super creepy if I created characters and then later got pushback from fans telling me that I don't know those characters like they do. :P

Id like to see another 3d title, id had quite enough of the first person perspective after all the prime titles so other m was a nice reprieve from it. But i still think its too early for another metroid title anyway, if anything maybe a remake of metroid 2 for 3ds would be awesome, id like to see the metroids evolution and home planet updated and brought to many players who missed out on the orignal.

for me, the camera and controls in OM got in the way sometimes. never felt that way in the primes.

if they're gonna make a 3rd person metroid, make it 2d. I'd love to see a 2d metroid on the 3ds (2d gameplay, 3d graphics)

The only direction that I would not want to see is another Metroid in first person on a handheld... Well could try it on a handheld as long as they don't add touch screen controls with it.

I love the Prime and the side-scroller ones too, but thinking in the way that nintendo has a los of side scroller games right now like new Super Mario Bros wii, kirby's epic yarn and Donkey Kong Country Returns I would prefer the Prime style

i will have to disagree with anyone who dislikes Other M

the gameplay in Other M was a perfect marriage between the Prime series and the side-scrollers. It took pieces from metroid's history and put them all together. It had Bosses from the earlier metroid games, Samuses personality was taken from the official manga. And the Ridley scene wasn't half as bad as people say. It got blown waaaaay out of proportions, just like every other negative aspect of the game. All the criticism i have for Other M is only visible when compared to Metroid Prime trilogy.

The art direction was weaker this time around, however the cutscenes where beautiful. Character design, Environment design and Monster design failed in comparison to Metroid Prime trilogy.

I'd like to see another Other M style, but tweaked. It would be really interesting to be able to move in 3rd and 1st person, but I feel like there would be some kind of compromise in one of the perspectives. And if they could just get the nunchuck involved... I think that would feel so much more natural. What if they made it so that a pointer was constantly on the screen in 3rd and that's how you aimed? And we all know how the pointer would work in 1st person. And just press a button to move from 3rd to 1st. And, last but not least, better level design please! Get Retro back for graphics and level design

the platforming bits from Other M were alright but everything else about that game was an atrocity. I'd really rather just see a pure side-scrolling Metroid game again. As long as it focuses on the classic Metroid themes of exploration and isolation, unlike Other M, I'd be happy.
