It would be silly for Nintendo to make games that didn't make sense to new players. There's plenty of explanation of what's going on.

you'd get it. it's a great game, stand-alone. plus, it will make you want to go out and buy a DS, Metroid Zero Mission, Metroid Fusion, Metroid Prime (1), and download Super Metroid on Wii. Why? because those games are better.

I have two friends who are playing MP3 right now and are really enjoying themselves. Funny thing is, neither of them even know what a metroid is. So, not knowing much about the series will not stop you from having a great gaming experience, but to enjoy it even more, either read up a little about the series, or even better, play MP and MP2 first.

Of course. It is easy to pick up great to play. Once you beat it on normal try harder. Once you beat that buy the rest of the series( The GC ones are now pretty cheap)

You practically don't even need to know what the heck is going on (Story-wise) in order to have fun... But I would suggest getting ahold of the first two Prime games as they're all really great.

Does his post even deserve any attention? He said it right there that he's never played any of them... The rest doesn't matter, since he can neither approve or disapprove them.

I agree, that statement made no sense. I would highly recommend MP3. It's up there with Mario Galaxy in my opinion. You don't need to know anything about the previous games. I started off playing MP2 and ended up buying Metroid Prime (GC), Zero Mission(GBA), Fusion(GBA), Super Metroid(VC), and Metroid(VC).
