Metroid 2 remake or a new game?

I'm basically talking about reamking Metroid 2: Return of Samus for the DS. If they don't have a VC on DSi, I would love to see this happen.....then again.....I would also love a whole new game in the series for the DS, as 3D-2D side scroller. What is the Metroid team up to anyway?

The 2D-3D metroid idea is great, on top of the great single player story, they should also add a great vs online and co-op online element similiar to MPH except on a 2d plain. Picture classic style metroid gameplay with 2d-3d visuals, 2v2 online with mic support(drools)

2D please (more like Mario Bros DS, 3D but sidescrolling). That would be my dream. I don't understand why Nintendo wouldn't cater to their fans some more, they're making enough from the casuals, just give us Metroid in 2D and the DS would be complete. That is all.
