Metroid Dread

Nintendo is known for bein old-school. making simpler games that are fun and seldom break from tradition in terms of gameplay, which is what i love about Metroid. The 2D metroids are among my all-time favorite games and i think Nintendo has done the series an injustice by not having a classic style Metroid on their handheld. Nintendo Devs---What are you working on that is keeping you from working on (IMHO ->) your best series?!?!?!?!?

Based on rumors I am hearing about the game, I think it will be a 2D sidescrolling Metroid similar to Super Metroid. Super Metroid was the best so I hope it is true.

Dread was cancelled. Retro studios said so themselves.

It would be nice, but if you want Metroid in 2D, your going to have to resort to GBA games or homebrew games.

I would rather have a new Metroid Prime Hunters with only multiplayer. With online support for up to 16 players, and in single card play people without the game can change characters also. 30+ new levels with all the levels from the first game, and 30+ characters including the ones from the first game.

But if a single player campaign could fit in the mist of all this, then i would like to see a 2D sidescroller.

That would be perfect! I mean. There should be a metroid that can actually beat halo in the multiplayer area of the game. Right now I think halo is the dominator in multiplayer. Right?

Guys, focus on the positives. Here, I have some for you.

Nintendo said they have a big surprise for Q3 or Q4. Dread revival anyone?

"Nintendo is not making the 2D Metroid at this time." It may not be Dread, it may not be 2D, and it may not be soon, but it may not be dead.

"Metroid project 'Dread' is nearing completion." If that was in 2007, then it may be released in 2008, if it's confirmed at E3.

Has anyone heard anything about Metroid Dead lately or did Nintendo officially put the idea down? It's a travesty not to have a side-scrolling Metroid (the best kind) on Nintendo's very own handheld system, and how long has the DS been out?joe11king
