Okay, so I got Metroid Prime for GC a month ago, which I was very happy about. Then, about a week later, I got Metroid Prime 3: Corruption for Christmas. Does this series follow a timeline because I haven't played Corruption yet, and I really want to. I'm just worried that I wouldn't understand the game, that I'd have to play and beat Prime and Echoes to get the story of Corruption. Is this true? Or am I just an idiot?AndrewMediaI played the main primes and the only thing you need to know is... WARNING!!! If you havn't completed Prime 1 this is a SPOILER!!! ...that after you killed the "metroid prime" and he absorbs your suit he transfors into dark samus. And that in prime 2 dark samus revives each time you kill her.End of spoiler.
You can play prime 3 and get it... but if you wan't to know whos dark samus you must complete prime 1 (or read my spoiler).
Yes, the game does follow a story so if you skip to Corruption you will not understand what's going on. You could probably read it on the internet though.
I'd play through the first two primes though. They are both amazing games.

yes i read the storie before i even played metroid prime 1. Metroid 1 and 2 are beautiful games that are rich in storyi i highly sugest you play them first.
It does follow a story but its not one thats really told much in the 1st to games unless u pay attention my advice to u is play the
3rd one 1st its really an easier intro to to style of the next two games.
after u beat the 3rd one then try the 1st one if you still like the style the games follow then play the 2nd one
i say this because if you play the 3rd one and things like backtracking annoy u then u should just quit the seires intirely
if u can get thru the 3rd game and start getting far in the 1st and everything still seems fun then continue on to the 2nd cause its
more like an rpg in the amount of time you have too spend looking for stuff and going back and forth
I would easily say that yes the games follow one story line. You can however, because of the nature if the Metroid games, play them in any order you want and still be able to follow the individual game. That being said, all three are spectacular beyond reason and should be played to ultimately get and appreciate the full effect and see the series play out in sequence.
If you've already played Prime and haven't yet played Corruption, I'd say play it smart and go through Echoes first. Once you skip it there's no turning back you know? Plus it's the longest and hardest of the three. It has the most content for sure.
