i have 1000 points burning a hole in my wii(and since i cant transfer them to my dsi ) i must buy a game, and since other m is around the corner (8 days) i want to play another metroid game to prepare myself.

anyway i dont know which one to get, the original metroid (the only one i dont have for nes) or super metroid.

i want to get metroid simply because i dont have the original and its only 500 so i can buy another 500 after that. downside i heard its too short.

and i want to get SM because its a higher score and its longer? but its 800 and i dont know any 200 point games.

so please help me out.

lol too short? The game came out over 20yrs ago, games were just a few hours long at most back in those days.Well SM leads directly into Other M, but if your worried about leftover points, just go for the original.

The first Metroid is legendary, but really has not aged well. Go with SM.

^^ Actually the first Metroid is no where near legendary. The only Metroid game that's legendary is in fact, Super Metroid. Anyway, just get Super Metroid. If I were you, I would get Zero Mission instead of the original Metroid too.

People who think the original Metroid is too short must never have played it back on the NES without maps. Get it and play it old school style (no help) and have fun wandering around forever :P

One of the first non-linear platformers. It may not be as good as Super Metroid, but it's still legendary. It practically invented a genre which SM and Castlevania SotN codified later. But yes, Zero Mission is awesome. Too bad it holds your hand the entire time >_>.

Super Metroid is better because compared to nowadays accessibility and learnability, Metroid is really outdated. If you wish to play it because it's the first game on the series, go for Metroid Zero Mission, a remake for GBA.

The original Metroid is honestly horrible. You start off with 35 energy and you have no map. Also, you know there's a problem when you can't crouch or aim down and 90% of your enemies are on the ground.

No. It's an unlockable on Metroid: Zero Mission though and all you have to do is beat the game I believe.

Get Super Metroid and when you have more Points get Metroid.

I have both and I'll tell you one thing you'll not be Dissapointed with Super Metroid.

Not to say that Metroid 1 is Not great (I'm actually playing it right now) It's just that I think Super Metroid is better.

I recently played Super Metroid for the first time last month and it's really good. Definitely go for that. You can always use the extra points later by adding them to a new 1000 points (Tetris Party and Cave Story are both 1200 points). I always use my extra 200 points for Guitar Hero songs. Also yeah get Zero Mission for the GBA if you want to play a modernized version of the original Metroid.

well i LOVE the music from the original...every level is freaky music...

i remember my friend from across the street bought that game and lent it to me... i loved it so much i never gave it back..

the suit upgrades the missles.. mother brain lol.. . it was just so awesome back when i was a kid.

idk.. the NES will always be MY fav system... i love snes games too dont get me wrong.. imo fzero was never surpassed from the snes version.. same with pilotwings and starfox(though i still have to play assualt on GC).

my fav smash bros is the original 64 one..

idk.. i guess im a sucker for originals.

There are maps? I've been lost for a long time

Get Super Metroid, it is pretty painful to play the first one in this day and age

Okay well nostalgia makes me vote for the original Metroid. Which is an EXTREMELY difficult decision mind you. But as far as which game you should buy it really shoud be Super Metroid. It's the mega masterpiece. Do it.

Well Metroid Prime says hello

Hello to you too. Unfortunately it's also not on the same level as Super Metroid, but pretty damn close.
