Metroid Other M/Dread (with great new video)

Well there was a short period where a lot of poeple, myslef included, thought it possible that Other M really is Dread. We now that's not true of course as evidenced here courtesy of this IGN article after Nintendo's E3 press conference.

What I'm curious about is if Dread may just be somehow connected to Other M in some way. Of course it all depends on what Dread is referencing. Is it a charatcer named Dread? Or a new species of "dread" metroid? Or an emotion such as fear, meaning a horror themed Metroid? I won't pretend to know this so I can only theorize that far. But with so much happening with the story of Metroid through Other M, and this article mentioning that the game may well still exist, I have a feeling they may relate to eachother.

For anyone who might not know, Adam Malkovich's "Any objections lady?" is one of the last things "he" says to Samus before the end battle in Metroid Fusion. They sort of mention that in this video. Plus I had no idea this game featured hand to hand combat! Enjoy!

Storywise, no one but the people working on the game knows what Other M's story is at this point. And dread sounds like it's merely a concept from the way Sakamoto answered that question. So at this point, anything you come up with is pure speculation.

Looks good, i just wish they didnt render so good. It makes the n-game graphics look ew when compared to the cut scenes. Id give it hope, i really didnt like the Prime series, it was good just ehh.Javieralijandro

Yeah, well like I said in my post, we don't know anything about it and that includes whether or not it exists. But it seems likely because the concept was still mentioned as in the pipeline. I know it might not ever release, but in theorizing about Other M I couldn't help but come back to it. Maybe it's only in the concept stage because it needs to build on set pieces put in place through Other M?

I know! Itwill really showhow versatile see is and how potent a threat se can be. I'm glad the video informed us of the actually combat in this game. And the flashbacks of her as a child and how much past we might get in this game. So sweet! I thought I remembered seeing her as a child but the video reminded me and then confirmed it. Kudos to them.

The Prime series is awesome, and it's difficult to top (for any game), but I can see (from the looks of just the one video) Other M doing so. It looks awesome, and it looks like a very unique game (just as the original Prime was when it first came out). Gotta love the Mertoid series' development over the past 2 decades. Very unique, creative, immersive and most of all fun.

If you think about it, it has to be one of the highes ratedseries of all time. Every single entry has been considered the top of it's class at the time they release.

If you think about it, it has to be one of the highes ratedseries of all time. Every single entry has been considered the top of it's class at the time they release.

thanks for posting the link to the video. like most people i'll be buying this game regardless of opinions on forums, reviews, or price. heck, i'll even buy it the day the mayan calendar ends. you know why? because the whole "2012" is a load of garbage. on a positive note, yay metroid!!!!!

BTW, if the black guys are galactic federation soldiers... what happened to the awesome armors they used to wear in the prime games? i'd buy a squad-based online FPS where you played them... remember that part in the ending of prime 3? on the pirate homeworld? pure awesome.

I'm surprised that the video didn't say anything about the "3 25" at the end when it says "2010". A lot of people think it's a hint for it's coming out March 25th.

Yeah they had PED equipped suits and took care of some business!!

right now we know the bomb squad, the regular troopers, and the PED heavy weaponry guys. and i suppose the black guys are kinda like SWAT (they look more organized and "sync'd" than the others, from the 2 seconds they appear). throw some more stuff and you have a game to put call of duty to shame :P

Great video. I would like to see more gameplay and more information on it, but oh well. I'm really excited for this game! 2010 is going to be a great year:D

By far, my most hyped game of 2010, i love Metroid and this one seems great as always, i can't wait to see more of Samus as a human and not only as the hunter, the combat seems like a mix between Primer and maybe Shadow Complex, i have plenty of faith in Tecmo and Nintendo, i can't wait for this game, 2010 can't come any sooner.
